About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (#1) document from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for Advertisement Number DOT-ITB-25-5014-OFP, specifically addressing the Removal and Replacement of Fuel Dispensers at District 5 Oviedo Operations Maintenance Facility. The Q&A document addresses a bidder's inquiry about alternate equipment submittal procedures, specifically referencing the potential use of Gasboy Dispensers. Special Condition 35 of the Invitation to Bid (ITB) outlines that alternate brands will be considered, with the Department reserving the right to require bidders to demonstrate that proposed alternate items/materials will perform in a completely acceptable manner.
The document provides specific guidance for bidders proposing alternate equipment brands, requiring them to submit complete specifications and descriptive technical literature with their bid proposal. The Department may request a demonstration of the alternate equipment's performance within fourteen days after the bid opening date, with the demonstration time and place subject to mutual agreement. Bidders using alternate brand equipment must provide comprehensive documentation to prove the equivalence and acceptability of their proposed materials, giving the Department full discretion to evaluate and potentially reject alternate equipment that does not meet their performance standards.
