About this file
This document is a Vendor Questions and Answers (Q&A) matrix for a federal contract solicitation for five brand-new fire trucks for the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Foster, Japan. The document covers detailed technical specifications and vendor inquiries across multiple sections of the Statement of Work (SOW), with government responses addressing various proposed modifications and alternative equipment solutions.
Key details include requests to modify requirements for seats, turret monitors, pump specifications, radio noise suppressors, and technical publications. Vendors sought changes such as using existing seat designs, alternative horn placements, adjusting pump capacity from 1,250 GPM to 1,000 GPM, and modifying warning light configurations. The government generally maintained strict adherence to original specifications, often responding that vendors must address requirements in the SOW or providing limited alternative options. The solicitation involves fire trucks with specific technical requirements including cab construction, equipment compartments, lighting, horns, fire pumps, and various operational components, with careful consideration of both U.S. military standards and Japanese regulatory constraints.

3 ARMY++SOW.pdf 39. SEATS
All rear seats shall be a foldable emergency jump seat that remains in the down position when lowered and the up position when raised.
We would like to request you to accept the same type of seats as those we delivered in 2023.
Because the inside cab modification is the chassis makers side and they only provide warranty for the seat which they have installation experience. Therefore if we request for install imported seat then the seat will be out of warranty.
2025/8/25: But this type of seat has no Lock function. If we installed lock system by modifying the seat, then the seat makers warranty will be dome. That is the reason we can’t install the lock system.
No concur - The government identifies the following as a potential option: The Fold and Hold Seat Cushion stays in the seated position until flipped up with a touch.

4 ARMY++SOW.pdf 39. SEATS
