About this file

This document contains a Q&A related to Invitation to Bid (ITB) 22-004 issued by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) for moving services. The ITB requires the contractor to provide local moving services (within a 50-mile radius of Tallahassee) and furnish any necessary supplies. The contract will be awarded to serve Leon County and the City of Tallahassee.

The Q&A clarifies that the contractor is responsible for all employee compensation, benefits, and taxes, including worker's compensation and disability insurance. It also confirms that a commercial driver's license (CDL) is only required for drivers of vehicles that legally require a CDL, not for all drivers participating in the contract.

Questions and Answers

Question: On page 4, it states, “The Contractor shall be responsible for payment of all compensation, benefits and employer taxes relating to such persons (including Worker’s Compensation and Disability).” Can you define Disability Benefit?

Answer: Worker’s compensation insurance is sufficient for the disability. If an employee is injured on the job, it will pay a percentage of wages while the employee is unable to work.

Question: In each bid, it states, "The Contractor’s drivers, as required by law, shall have a valid CDL license." However, for the straight trucks, CDLs are not required by the Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) unless they are over a certain weight limit. Is mandatory CDL licensing a requirement for all drivers participating in this contract?

Answer: The CDL requirement is only for drivers of trucks that DOT requires a CDL for. The requirement does not apply to vehicles or trucks that do not require a CDL.
