CONSTRUCTION OF AN ACCESS RAMP

US EMBASSY MADRID, SPAIN

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Question 1: What is the minimum thickness required for the ramp slab?

Answer 1: Please refer to Attachment 6 – Specifications, Section 2.3 – Description of the Works, Line Item 1: Ramp.

Question 2: What is the reinforcement mesh quantity for the ramp slab deck?

Answer 2: Please refer to drawing titled “Pavement Section” in Attachment 5 – Drawings. Mesh diameter 15mm 20x20.

Question 3: Does the "L" shaped reinforcement on the deeper side of the ramp only have one longitudinal tie bar at its lowest part?

Answer 3: Please refer to Attachment 6 – Specifications, Section 2.3 – Description of the Works, Line Item 1: Ramp.

Question 4: What is the actual design of the handrailing (there are several designs included in the RFQ documentation)?

Answer 4: The photos included in the RFQ are just for reference purposes. A complete description of the handrailing requirements is included in Attachment 6 – Specifications, Section 2.3 – Description of the Works, Line Item 1: Ramp, Handrail Installation.

Question 5: Are the micro footings for the upright posts of the railing necessary? Could they be embedded in the slab of the deck?

Answer 5: The micro footings are necessary.

Question 6: Is the heel for receiving the upright posts of the railing necessary?

Answer 6: Yes, it is necessary.

Question 7: Is the railing made of stainless steel?

Answer 7: Yes, the railing is made of stainless steel.

Question 8: Is it also necessary to install two auxiliary sections of railing that are outside the new ramp railing?

Answer 8: Yes, please refer to drawing titled “3D render” in Attachment 5 – Drawings.

Question 9: Why are there two upright posts of the ramp railing colored red in the plan?

Answer 9: The upright posts colored in red are movable pillars. Please refer to drawing titled “Handrail” in Attachment 5 – Drawings.

Question 10: What type of surface finish is desired for the ramp surface and its two landings?

Answer 10: A broom finish, which is rough and slip resistant.

Question 11: We do not understand the expansion of the motorcycle parking. Are the pre-existing stairs being removed?

Answer 11: Yes, the stairs will be removed.

Question 12: Is the geometry of the railing for this motorcycle parking the same as the ramp railing?

Answer 12: No, please refer to Attachment 6 – Specifications, Section 2.3 – Description of the Works, Optional Line Item 2: Motorcycle Update Platform.
