1.0 Description of Services

1.1 Objective(s): This Performance Work Statement (PWS) is for depot level repair of the AN/APQ-170 Multi-Mode Radar (MMR) X-Band Magnetrons, Ku-Band Magnetrons and Servo Control Modules assets used on the MC-130H Combat Talon II aircraft. The extent of repair work required shall be determined by the initial inspection/bench check and required disassembly to return this item to a serviceable end item that shall efficiently serve its intended purpose.

Original design of the end item and parts thereof, or the design functional capabilities of the end item, shall not be changed, modified or altered unless such changes are authorized in writing by the Procuring Contracting Officer (PCO) or specified by publication or directive listed in the Appendix. The contractor shall repair and return assets to the Government in serviceable condition while executing approved Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), promptly maintain Turn-Around-Time (TAT) in calendar days while meeting the delivery schedule for all requirements, track and correct Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDRs). All CAV-AF transactions shall be promptly and correctly maintained.

1.2 Benefit to United States Air Force (USAF): The MMR is Mission Critical for the MH- 130H Combat Talon II aircraft for combat search and rescue missions. Without continued repair coverage of the MRR system, mission capability and effectiveness could negatively impact mission success if a break in repair coverage occurs. The war fighter will benefit by having more aircraft available with a fully functional MMR to perform terrain-following and terrain-avoidance features, as well as ground-mapping, weather detection and avoidance, and beacon interrogation modes of operation. These special navigation and aerial delivery systems, which are used to locate small drop zones and deliver people or equipment with greater accuracy and at higher speeds than possible with a standard C-130. The MC-130H Combat Talon II aircraft can penetrate hostile airspace at low altitudes for night and adverse weather operations. These components are Mission Critical for the AN/APQ-170 Multi-Modal Radar installed in the MC- 130H Combat Talon II.

1.3 Background: The repair of these components has been accomplished by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Communications & Power Industries (CPI), Inc., because of the unique nature of the repair requirements which is driven by company owned engineering repair data, specialized support equipment and engineering expertise.
