1.0 Description of Services
1.1 Objective(s): This Performance-based Work Statement (PWS) describes the services required to repair the Very High Frequency (VHF) Navigation Receiver, National Stock Number (NSN) 5826-01-479-2461, Part Number (P/N) 2041234-3442 in support of the RNA-34A system.
These services shall include all actions necessary to return the end item to a serviceable condition. The repair of this item shall be in accordance with (IAW) applicable drawings and relevant technical standards and specifications within specified Turn-Around-Time (TAT) while observing accepted quality standards. The extent of repair work required shall be determined by initial Test, Teardown & Evaluation (TT&E) inspection/bench check and required disassembly to return each item to a serviceable end item that shall effectively serve its intended purpose. The Contractor shall furnish the services and materials necessary for the repair, testing, inspection, packaging and shipping of the VHF. This document incorporates the Contractor and Government requirements for the Contractor and Government requirements for the RNA-34A contract repair program. The Contractor shall deliver repaired assets on time, comply with the quality levels of repair necessary to return assets in serviceable condition, and provide timely and accurate reporting in CAVAF.
1.2 Benefit to United States Air Force (USAF): This acquisition will benefit the United States Air Force (USAF) by providing the assets necessary to support the current Mission Requirements of the E-3 aircraft, backorders, MICAP and Surge requirements, thereby enabling the E-3 aircraft to perform their missions.
1.3 Background: The RNA-34A VHF Navigation Receiver provides reception of VHF Omnidirectional Radio Range Localizer VOR/LOC signals within the frequency range of 108.00 to 117.95 MHz with 50-kHz channel spacing. The RNA-34A processes these signals to supply omni-bearing and course-line deviation in the form of visual display on the Horizontal Situation Indicator (HIS). The RNA-34A is capable of both automatic and manual Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range (VOR) operation. In automatic operation the pointer on the Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI) indicates the direction of the VOR station relative to the heading of the aircraft, which in turn is shown in relation to magnetic north by the position of the compass card. In manual operation the HIS indicates the position of the aircraft relative to the selected course.
