About this file

This Performance Work Statement details the requirements for repairing two high voltage generators of a Gulmay HPX-450/11 X-ray system used with a North Star Imaging X5500 X-ray computerized tomography scanner at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Developmental Command (DEVCOM) Army Research Lab in Aberdeen Proving Ground.

The contractor must troubleshoot and repair both the cathode (+) generator (model CF226-2/1, serial 0215-1015) and anode (-) generator (model CFA225/1, serial 0060-1015), providing all necessary tools, equipment, parts, and personnel. While ARD will ship the generators to Gulmay in Suwanee, Georgia, the contractor is responsible for return shipping to APG via FOB Destination. The work includes diagnostic testing to ensure OEM specifications are met, with a one-year warranty required. The period of performance is 4-6 weeks after contract award, and the contractor must submit a test report within 30 days of completing repairs. This document has Distribution Statement A, approved for public release.

14 January 2025

C.1. BACKGROUND

The Materials Response and Design Branch (FCDD-RLA-MB) of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Developmental Command (DEVCOM) at The Army Research Lab (ARL) in Aberdeen Proving Ground requires the troubleshooting and repair of the two (2) high voltage (tension) generators of the Gulmay, Ltd., HPX-450/11 X-ray system used with the North Star Imaging, Inc. (NSI) X5500 X-ray computerized tomography (XCT) scanner. This XCT scanner combines a series of X-ray images taken from different angles and uses computer processing to create 3D cross-sectional images of material. The 3D cross sectional image information is used to determine internal structures of materials used in experiments.

C.2. OBJECTIVE

The objective of this effort is to repair and upgrade the Repair of High Voltage Generators of 450kV X-ray System Used with North Star Imaging, Inc. (NSI), X-ray Computed Tomography Scanner previously acquired by and currently maintained by the Materials Response and Design Branch of DEVCOM ARL. The Contractor shall perform the necessary work to troubleshoot and completely repair the high voltage cathode and anode generators of the Gulmay HPX-450/11 X-ray system used with the NSI X5500 XCT scanner. The Contractor shall incur the cost of sending (shipping) the completely repaired cathode and anode generators back to ARD in ARL (APG).

C.3. REQUIREMENT

C.3.1. The Army Research Directorate (ARD) will incur the cost of sending (shipping) the cathode and anode generators to Gulmay in Suwanee, Georgia. The shipping address is: 480 Brogdon Rd Ste 100, Zip Code 30024.

C.3.2. The Contractor shall provide all tools, equipment, parts, and personnel to troubleshoot and repair the cathode and anode generators.

C.3.3.
