FEMA’s mission is to help occupants recover from [Insert DR XXXX-XX]. FEMA has the authority to make sure occupants are following the rules, terms and conditions of the Temporary Housing Agreement they signed before moving into the unit. By law, the period of assistance for Direct Temporary Housing Assistance expires on [Insert Program End Date].
FEMA has notified all occupants in writing that they are required to either:
• Sign a new lease for the unit they are occupying (Please note that you are not required to offer them a new lease for the same unit); or
• Move-out of the unit, remove all personal property, and return the keys to you on or before [Insert
Program End Date].
If there is any damage other than normal wear and tear, you may use the security deposit provided under your
FEMA contract to cover them. [Insert Occupant’s Name] is responsible for damage not covered by the security deposit.
Under the terms of the [Insert Direct Lease contract or Multi-Family Lease and Repair] contract, if [Insert
Occupant’s Name] has not moved out, removed all personal property, and returned the unit’s keys to you by
[Insert Termination Date], you are responsible for taking the necessary steps to reclaim the unit using all authorities that apply, including eviction. Also, FEMA will charge [Insert Occupant’s Name] a monthly penalty fee until they comply with the Notice of Termination.
