Where can I get, or get rid of, government stuff ?

Vandenberg Recycling Center Mon – Fri, 8 – 5 Operated by VAFB’s 30th CES / CEOE Bldg 11510, 1205 Utah Ave.

Our recycling & re-use benefits VAFB: Scrap metal at the Recycling Center is sold by the base’s Qualified Recycling Program (QRP), generating money that is used for VAFB programs, projects, and/or activities.

Government furniture, cartridges, and scrap wood is re-used, saving disposal costs & purchasing costs.

WE ACCEPT the following:

SCRAP METAL Copper, Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Iron, Wire, Cable, etc.

Scrap Metal such as, wire, cable, pipe, conduit, ductwork, beams, siding, roofing, framing, remnants, etc.

Renovation/Demolition scrap, to include intact building components, such as doors, water heaters, etc.

FURNITURE any condition Government Furniture from offices, classrooms, etc.

Good-Condition government furniture is made available for free reuse by govt. organizations on base.

Un-usable government furniture is collected for disposal by a local landfill.

PRINTER CARTRIDGES Government Used & Un-Used Used cartridges are sold to a recycler. Un-Used cartridges are available for free reuse by govt. orgs. on base.

WOOD any condition Pallets, Lumber, Crates, Spools, Poles, Tree Logs, etc.

Re-usable SCRAP WOOD & FIREWOOD is made available, for free to anyone with base access.

DLA Disposition Services (previously “DRMO”) Mon-Fri, 6:30-3 Operated by an off-base agency - - DLA Bldg 11510, 1205 Utah Ave.

The following items MUST be turned in to Disposition Services:

• PROPERTY-BOOK ITEMS (Furniture is NOT a property-book item; please, deliver furniture to the VRC.)

• ELECTRICAL &/or ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS (or items/material containing them)

• PRECIOUS-METALS: Gold, Silver, Platinum (or items containing them). (Copper is NOT a precious metal;

please, deliver copper to the Vandenberg Recycling Center.)

• MUNITIONS-LIST &/or STRATEGIC-LIST ITEMS

• MILITARY &/or AEROSPACE ITEMS items manufactured/modified specifically for military/aerospace use.

1. IT equipment (govt. computers, etc.): via your property custodian to BECO; Bldg 9325; 6-8942, 05, or 08.

2. All Other turn-in items:

a. Customers must create a turn-in document (Form 1348-1A) at: http://www.dla.mil/DispositionServices/Business/TurnInProperty.aspx

b. Customers must package their shipment for transport (e.g., palletized, in a tri-wall container, etc.).

c. Once you’ve completed steps 1 & 2, & if you do not want to hold your shipment at your facility until it is picked up, you may BY APPOINTMENT ONLY deliver your shipment to VAFB’s temporary holding area at Bldg 5500. The HazWaste Facility Mon - Fri, BY APPOINTMENT Operated by VAFB, 30 CES / CEI Bldg 3300, 606-8438, bgivandenberg@bgi1.com

The following wastes MUST be taken to the HazWaste Facility:

• HAZARDOUS WASTE - - e.g., waste paint, waste treated wood

• UNIVERSAL WASTE - - e.g., waste light bulbs, waste light ballasts, waste batteries, mercury switches

Miscellaneous Waste/Trash

• SCRAP WORK REFRIGERATORS - - Coolant can remain. Contact the Vandenberg Recycling Center

(phone numbers at top of this page) to coordinate customer drop off at VMXI receiving location.

• CARDBOARD, PLASTICS - - Place in your facility’s outside recycling container. More info? Call 606-5034.

• Large quantity of CARDBOARD - - Call (805) 734-3354, x3225, to deliver to the Commissary’s baler.
