About this file

This document is a Notice of Intended Decision to Enter into a Single Source Contract (PUR 7778) posted by the Florida Department of Children and Families (Department), Florida State Hospital (FSH) and Northeast Florida State Hospital (NEFSH). The Department seeks to procure maintenance, monitoring, and repair services for the existing proprietary Simplex Fire Alarm systems at the two state-operated mental health treatment facilities. The Department intends to contract with Johnson Controls Fire Protection for these services, which are mandated by the State Fire Marshal and the Agency for Health Care Administration. The contract term and any renewal options are not specified.

The total estimated price for the services is $360,000 for FSH and $85,000 for NEFSH. The justification for the single source selection is that the Simplex systems are proprietary, and all services and repairs must be performed by Johnson Controls Fire Protection in order to maintain warranties, coverage, and service agreements. Only Johnson Controls has the necessary expertise and access to parts and components required to service and repair the specialized Simplex systems.
