About this file
This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeking to purchase EXO Data Sondes, Sensors and Components from YSI Incorporated to conduct water quality assessments. The DEP's Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection, Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Florida Keys Aquatic Preserves require these products to expand their continuous water quality monitoring program to two additional sites. YSI Incorporated is the sole manufacturer and distributor of these compatible sensors. The estimated purchase amount is $51,254.58 and the contract term is 12 months. Prospective vendors have until September 19, 2022 at 8:30 AM ET to provide information regarding their ability to supply the requested commodities or services. If determined that YSI Incorporated is the sole source, the DEP will post a notice of its intended decision to contract with them.
The document notes that YSI Incorporated is the sole manufacturer of the EXO series water quality monitoring devices, which utilize a unique "smart sensor" design. The EXO platform's innovative Bluetooth technology aids in ease of calibration, and the sensors are wet-mateable and durable. To ensure compatibility and quality assurance, it is imperative the equipment and supplies be purchased directly from YSI Incorporated, as any needed repairs must also be completed by YSI to prevent voiding the warranty.
