About this file
This is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (Form PUR 7776) issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for Flow Cytometer and Cell Sorter Maintenance, Equipment, and Related Parts from Life Technologies. The solicitation seeks maintenance services for proprietary laboratory equipment including flow cytometers, cell sorters, and related proprietary parts, as well as new proprietary equipment manufactured by Life Technologies. The term is for three years upon issuance of purchase order, with responses due by February 6, 2025. The maintenance agreement requires at minimum yearly preventative maintenance visits for each instrument by Life Technologies certified technicians.
The estimated contract value is $300,000. The justification for single source notes that Life Technologies is the only authorized provider of maintenance and repairs for this proprietary equipment used by the Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) group, as they maintain exclusive intellectual property rights for the equipment software and have not authorized any other companies to perform maintenance or resell the equipment. Life Technologies' employees are the only technicians trained and authorized by the manufacturer to perform maintenance and repairs on the proprietary equipment.
