About this file

This is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) form filed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute. The agency is seeking to procure Lotek radio telemetry tags and receivers equipment to support ongoing freshwater fish research. The Freshwater Fisheries Research Section requires additional compatible units to complete current studies and support future research activities utilizing existing infrastructure. The specific commodities needed include Lotek radio telemetry tags and receivers with proprietary coding, with tags requiring compatibility with Lotek SRX 1200 receivers and programmability to broadcast frequencies between 150 and 154 MHz. Tags must log temperature, pressure, and 3-axis acceleration data for later download, while receivers must decode transmissions from Lotek MCFT-3 transmitters and handle up to 700 tag IDs per channel/frequency. The contract term is three years from purchase order issuance. The posting date is October 29, 2025, with the last day for receipt of information from prospective vendors set for November 20, 2025.

The estimated dollar amount for this single source acquisition is $200,000.00. The justification for single source procurement is that the radio telemetry equipment is an integral and specialized component of an ongoing study evaluating survival, habitat use, predation rates, and emigration of freshwater fish, with existing research already established on the Lotek equipment platform. The intended single source is identified as Lotek Wireless, Inc. The agency has obtained approval from research and administrative leadership including Aaron Reid Hyle (Research Scientist), Jason Dotson (Section Leader), Leanne Flewelling (Deputy Director), Matthew Carroll (Purchasing Specialist Supervisor), and Rachel Korade (Purchasing Director). Prospective vendors are invited to submit written information regarding their ability to supply the described commodities, with the agency to make a final determination on the single source status after reviewing any vendor submissions.
