CASE STUDY EXAMPLE

Please answer the following questions to the example case study below.

New Lab-wide HR Software

Background: Human Resources is replacing a very old, on-premise human capital management system with a modern, cloud-based solution. Process, workflows, and policy across many directorates will need to change as a result, in addition to the change that comes with a new interface that all employees touch.

Additional facts to consider:

Interface change for all employees (large scale) though they not realize it; this new systems replaces MANY small and separate systems.

Employees will need to learn new workflows/process for many tasks.

Administrative employees and managers will need to learn new workflows/processes and policies.

New capabilities and features will be available, but training will be needed to take advantage of them.

Questions:

1. What are the steps you would take to facilitate this change?

2. What plans do you recommend to solve this situation?

3. What techniques would you use to solve this situation?

4. What risk/complications do you foresee when addressing these changes to Lab personnel?

5. What are the key roles that would be assigned to this effort and what they would require from JPL to accomplish the individual tasks?
