Project Drawings Replace Electrical Panel Feeders and Associated Repairs

2024 – Replace Electrical Panel Feeders and Associated Repairs

Keyed Notes – One Line Diagram-Sheet 1:

(Note:

NEC = National Electrical Code)

KN1: Existing panel feeder to Panel A, panel feeder is routed underground (underfloor) from existing main distribution panel (MDP) to Panel A. Original construction drawings indicate panel feeder is 3" conduit with 4 #4/0. Existing MDP is in Building 1 – Room 14 and Panel A is in shop area of Building 2. Contractor shall confirm exact location of MDP and Panel A with Owner.

Base Bid: Contractor shall remove existing panel feeder. Underfloor portions of existing feeder shall be abandoned. Exposed portions of existing feeder shall be removed in their entirety (cut exposed conduit and wiring off flush with floor and fill with non-shrink grout).

Base Bid: Contractor shall replace existing panel feeder with new. New panel feeder shall be 2-1/2” conduit with 4-#4/0 and 1#4 GRD. New panel feeder shall be routed from MDP through exposed ceiling in Bldg. 1 - Room 14; above accessible suspended ceiling through Bldg. 1 – Corridor 41, above accessible suspended ceiling through Bldg. 8 – Corridor 113, and through exposed ceiling in Building 2 to Panel A. Contractor shall confirm exact routing of new panel feeder and review routing with Owner prior to installation.

Base Bid: Contractor shall connect new panel feeder to existing 100A, three pole branch breaker at existing MDP.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new.

Bid Option 03: In lieu of routing new panel feeder to existing MDP, route new feeder to new MDP and connect to new 200A, three pole branch breaker.

For proposal purposes, Contractor shall assume length of new panel feeder is 230 feet.

KN2: Existing panel feeder to Panel B, panel feeder is routed underground (underfloor) from existing main distribution panel (MDP) to Panel B. Original construction drawings indicate panel feeder is 1-1/2" conduit with 3 #2. Existing MDP is in Building 1 – Room 14 and Panel B is in shop area of Building 2. Contractor shall confirm exact location of MDP and Panel A with Owner.

Bid Option 03: In lieu of routing new panel feeder to existing MDP, route new feeder to new MDP and connect to new 200A, three pole branch breaker.

For proposal purposes, Contractor shall assume length of new panel feeder is 230 feet.

KN3: Existing panel feeder to Panel A1, Panel A1 is supplied from feed-thru lugs of

Panel A. Panel A1 is in shop area of Building 2. Panel feeder is 2-1/2” conduit with 4#4/0 and 1#4 Grd. and is routed exposed in shop area. Contractor shall maintain existing Panel A1 feeder installation.

KN4: Note: Original construction drawings indicate this panel as Panel C, existing panel cover is marked Panel X. This panel will be indicated as Panel C in this scope of work.

Existing panel feeder to Panel C, Panel C is in Building 1 – Room 14 (Boiler Room). Original construction drawings indicate Panel C is supplied from main distribution panel (MDP) in Room 14 and that existing panel feeder is 1-1/2” conduit with 4 #4. Existing panel feeder is routed above plaster ceiling in Room

14. Contractor shall confirm exact location of MDP and Panel C with Owner.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new. Existing MDP enclosure shall be retained and used as junction / pull box for extending panel feeders to new MDP.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall remove panel feeder conductors in their entirety, retain associated conduit as spare; and provide new panel feeder from Panel C to new MDP. Route new panel feeder exposed below plaster ceiling and connect new panel feeder to new 100A A, three pole branch breaker at new MDP. New panel feeder shall be 1-1/2” conduit with 4#3 and 1 #8Grd.

For proposal purposes, Contractor shall assume length of panel feeder is 60 feet.

KN5: Note: Original construction drawings indicate this panel as Panel E, existing panel cover is marked Panel W. This panel will be indicated as Panel E in this scope of work.

Existing panel feeder to Panel E, Panel E is in Building 1 – Room 14 (Boiler Room). Original construction drawings indicate Panel E is supplied from main distribution panel (MDP) in Room 14 and that existing panel feeder is 1-1/4” conduit with 4 #2. Panel feeder is routed above plaster ceiling in Room 14.

Contractor shall confirm exact location of MDP and Panel E with Owner.

Bid Option 01: Contractor shall remove conductors of panel feeder between existing MDP and Panel E and replace with new. Existing 1-1/4” conduit system shall be retained and shall be modified as needed to replace panel feeder conductors. New panel feeder conductors shall be 4#2 and 1#6 Grd.

Bid Option 01: Contractor shall connect new panel feeder conductors to existing 100A, three pole breaker at existing MDP.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new.

Bid Option 03: In lieu of replacing conductors of panel feeder between

Panel E and existing MDP (Bid Option 01); remove panel feeder conductors in their entirety, retain associated conduit as spare; and provide new panel feeder from Panel E to new MDP. Route new panel feeder exposed below plaster ceiling and connect new panel feeder to new 200 A, three pole branch breaker at new MDP. New panel feeder shall be 2” conduit with 4#3/0 and 1#6 Grd.

KN6: Existing panel feeder to Panel F, Panel F is in Building 1 – Room 13 (lab space).

Original construction drawings indicate Panel F is supplied from main distribution panel (MDP) in Room 14 and that existing panel feeder is 1-1/2” conduit with 4 #4. Panel feeder is routed above plaster ceiling in Room 14. Contractor shall confirm exact location of MDP and Panel F with Owner.

Bid Option 01: Contractor shall remove conductors of panel feeder between existing MDP and Panel F and replace with new. Existing 1-1/2” conduit system shall be retained and shall be modified as needed to replace panel feeder conductors. New panel feeder conductors shall be 4#1 and 1#6 Grd.

Bid Option 01: Contractor shall connect new panel feeder conductors to existing 70A, three pole breaker at existing MDP.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new.

Bid Option 03: In lieu of replacing conductors of panel feeder between

Panel F and existing MDP (Bid Option 01), remove panel feeder conductors in their entirety, retain associated conduit as spare; and provide new panel feeder from Panel E to new MDP. Route new panel feeder exposed below plaster ceiling and connect new panel feeder to new 200 A, three pole branch breaker at new MDP. New panel feeder shall be 2” conduit with 4#3/0 and 1#6 Grd.

KN7: Existing panel feeder to Panel G, Panel G is in Building 1 – Room 34 (custodial room). Original construction drawings indicate Panel G is supplied from main distribution panel (MDP) in Room 14 and that existing panel feeder is 1-1/4” conduit with 3 #1. Contractor shall confirm exact location of MDP and Panel G with Owner and routing of existing panel feeder. Panel G is equipped with feed-thru lugs for feeding Panel K.

Bid Option 02: Contractor shall remove the conductors of existing panel feeder with new. Existing 1-1/4” conduit system shall be retained / re-used to the greatest extent possible and shall be modified as needed to replace panel feeder conductors. New panel feeder conductors shall be 4 #2 and 1#6 Grd.

Bid Option 02: Contractor shall connect new panel feeder conductors to existing 100A, three pole breaker at existing MDP.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new. Existing MDP enclosure shall be retained and used as junction / pull box for extending panel feeders to new MDP.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall extend panel feeder from enclosure of existing MDP to new MDP. Extend with new 1-1/2” conduit with 4#2 and 1 #6 Grd.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall connect new panel feeder to 110 A, three pole branch breaker at new MDP.

160 feet.

KN8: Existing panel feeder to Panel H, Panel H is in Building 1 – Room 34 (custodial room). Original construction drawings indicate Panel H is supplied from main distribution panel (MDP) in Room 14 and that existing panel feeder is 2” conduit with 4 #1/0. Contractor shall confirm exact location of MDP and Panel H with Owner and routing of existing panel feeder.

Bid Option 02: Contractor shall remove the conductors of existing panel feeder with new. Existing 2” conduit system shall be retained / re-used to the greatest extent possible and shall be modified as needed to replace panel feeder conductors. New panel feeder conductors shall be 4 #1/0 and 1#6 Grd.

Bid Option 02: Contractor shall connect new panel feeder conductors to existing 125A, three pole breaker at existing MDP.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new. Existing MDP enclosure shall be retained and used as junction / pull box for extending panel feeders to new MDP.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall extend panel feeder from enclosure of existing MDP to new MDP. Extend with new 2” conduit with 4#1/0 and 1 #6 Grd.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall connect new panel feeder to 150 A, three pole branch breaker at new MDP.

160 feet.

KN9: Existing panel feeder to Panel J, Panel J is in Building 1 – Room 24 (equipment room). Original construction drawings indicate Panel J is supplied from main distribution panel (MDP) in Room 14 and that existing panel feeder is 2” conduit with 4 #1/0. Contractor shall confirm exact location of MDP and Panel J with Owner and routing of existing panel feeder.

Bid Option 02: Contractor shall remove the conductors of existing panel feeder with new. Existing 2” conduit system shall be retained / re-used to the greatest extent possible and shall be modified as needed to replace panel feeder conductors. New panel feeder conductors shall be 4 #1/0 and 1#6 Grd.

Bid Option 02: Contractor shall connect new panel feeder conductors to existing 125A, three pole breaker at existing MDP.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new. Existing MDP enclosure shall be retained and used as junction / pull box for extending panel feeders to new MDP.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall extend panel feeder from enclosure of existing MDP to new MDP. Extend with new 2” conduit with 4#1/0 and 1 #6 Grd.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall connect new panel feeder to 150 A, three pole branch breaker at new MDP.

180 feet.

KN10: Existing panel feeder to Panel K, Panel K is in Building 1 – Room 24 (equipment room). Panel K is supplied from feed-thru lugs at Panel G. Original construction drawings indicate existing panel feeder to Panel K is 1-1/2” conduit with 3 #1.

Contractor shall confirm exact location of Panel K with Owner and routing of existing panel feeder. Panel K is 120/208V, 3 phase, 4 wire, 225A, main lugs only type panel.

Bid Option 02: Contractor shall remove the conductors of existing panel feeder with new. Existing 1-1/2” conduit system shall be retained / re-used to the greatest extent possible and shall be modified as needed to replace panel feeder conductors. New panel feeder conductors shall be 4 #2 and 1#6 Grd.

Bid Option 02: Contractor shall connect new panel feeder conductors to feed-thru lugs at Panel G.

100 feet.

KN11: Existing panel feeder to Panel L, Panel L is in Building 1 – Room 18 (tower).

Original construction drawings indicate Panel L is supplied from main distribution panel (MDP) in Room 14 and existing feeder is routed in 2-1/2” conduit.

Contractor shall confirm exact location of Panel L with Owner and routing of existing panel feeder.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new. Existing MDP enclosure shall be retained and used as junction / pull box for extending panel feeders to new MDP.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall extend panel feeder from enclosure of existing MDP to new MDP. Contractor shall confirm existing panel feeder prior to ordering new MDP. For proposal purposes, extend panel feeder with new 2” conduit with 4#3/0 and 1 #6 Grd and connect new panel feeder to 200 A, three pole branch breaker at new MDP.

KN12: Existing panel feeder to Panel “Pnl Rm-15”, panel is in Building 1 – Room 15 (tower). Contractor shall confirm exact location of panel with Owner and routing of existing panel feeder.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall remove existing conduit and wiring of panel feeder in its entirety and replace with new. Contractor shall confirm existing panel feeder prior to ordering new MDP. For proposal purposes, new panel feeder shall be new 2” conduit with 4#3/0 and 1 #6 Grd;

connect new panel feeder to 200 A, three pole branch breaker at new

MDP.

KN13: Existing enclosed circuit breaker on side of existing MDP, enclosed breaker appears to supply air compressor that is in Room 14.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall remove existing enclosed circuit breaker and remove conduit and wiring from existing MDP enclosure to air compressor disconnect. Provide knock-out closure plug at existing MDP enclosure.

See KN14 for additional information.

KN14: Existing local disconnect switch for air compressor that is in Room 14.

Bid Option 03: Existing MDP shall be replaced with new.

Bid Option 03: See KN13 for additional information.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall relocate local disconnect switch to allow installation of new MDP. Provide new conduit and wiring to restore electrical power to air compressor and modify existing conduit and wiring as needed to restore final connection to air compressor. Circuit air compressor from spare breaker at Panel E with ¾” conduit with 4#10 and 1#10 Grd.

KN15: Existing abandoned 200A disconnect switch on lower level of Room 14.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall remove abandoned disconnect switch and associated conduit and wiring in its entirety.

KN16: Existing abandoned Panel X on lower level of Room 14.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall remove abandoned panel and associated conduit and wiring in its entirety.

KN17: Existing main building disconnect switch (Note: original construction drawings indicate that line side lugs of main switch are tapped and supply manual transfer switch).

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall remove and replace existing main switch with new 800A, three pole circuit breaker. New circuit breaker shall be service entranced rated. Re-connect service entrance conductors from exterior transformer. Contractor shall provide grounding of neutral conductor in accordance with National Electrical Code requirements. See Project specifications for additional information.

KN18: Existing main distribution panel for Building 1 / Building 1; Federal Pacific Electric type.

Bid Option 03: Existing main distribution panel shall be replaced with new.

See KN19. Contractor shall remove existing panel interior along with panel cover of exiting MDP in its entirety. Existing panel enclosure (tub) shall be retained and re-used as junction / pull box in re-routing panel feeders to new MDP. Contractor shall provide new cover on enclosure.

New cover shall match height, width, and thickness (gauge) of existing enclosure. New cover shall be secured to enclosure with appropriate hardware.

KN19: Bid Option 03: Contractor shall provide new main distribution panel (MDP) for Building 1 / Building 2. See panel schedule and Project Specifications for additional information.

KN20: Bid Option 03: Contractor shall provide new feeder to new MDP, new feeder shall be three (3) sets of 3” conduit with 4-#300 kcmil and 1-#1/0 Grd each.

KN21: Existing manual transfer switch (fusible type)

Bid Option 03: Remove manual transfer switch, associated wireway, conduit and wiring in its entirety.

KN22: Existing fusible 200A safety switch that supplies abandoned Panel X and Panel

Y.

Bid Option 03: Remove 200 A safety switch in its entirety.

See KN16 for additional information on Panel X.

KN23: Existing panel feeder to Panel Y, Panel Y is in Building 1 – Room 14 (Boiler

Room). Existing panel feeder is routed above plaster ceiling in Room 14.

Contractor shall confirm exact location of MDP and Panel Y with Owner.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall remove panel feeder conductors in their entirety, retain associated conduit as spare; and provide new panel feeder from Panel Y to new MDP. Route new panel feeder exposed below plaster ceiling and connect new panel feeder to new 150A A, three pole branch breaker at new MDP. New panel feeder shall be 2” conduit with 4#1/0 and 1 #6Grd.

KN24: Existing power meter monitoring Building 1 and Building 2 power.

Bid Option 03: Disconnect electrical power, communication wiring, and all interlock wiring and remove power meter. Turn over power meter to Owner.

KN25: Bid Option 03: Two (2) existing conduit and wiring runs from existing MDP;

Contractor shall confirm the load(s) supplied by the these runs. These conduit runs are routed exposed below the plaster ceiling in Room 14. Contractor shall intercept each conduit and wiring run and extend to new MDP. For proposal, Contractor shall assume each conduit and wiring run is 2-1/2” conduit with 4-#4/0 and 1#4 Grd.

KN26: Existing conduit and wiring runs routed underground to utility transformer.

KN27: Existing panel feeder to Panel Q, Panel Q is in Building 1 – Room 14 (Boiler Room – Lower Level). Contractor shall confirm exact location of MDP and Panel Q with Owner.

Bid Option 03: Contractor shall remove panel feeder in its entirety and provide new panel feeder from Panel Q to new MDP. Connect new panel feeder to new 200 A, three pole branch breaker at new MDP. New panel feeder shall be 2” conduit with 4#3/0 and 1 #6Grd.
