Specifications NOMENCLATURE: Multi-Detector Survey Meter The minimum essential physical, functional and performance characteristics for a new Multi-Detector Survey Meter are:

· Must be Geiger-Mueller (GM), scintillator, or proportional. With a high voltage range of 400-1500 VDC.

· Must be a Multi-Detector Survey Meter with detection capabilities for Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Radiation.

· Must have the capability for high energy gamma detection.

· Must have alarms for count rate, exposure/dose, and scaler alarm set points adjustable over the display range. Also, a high count rate saturation protection that prevents false display of lower count rates.

· Must have a display range of 0.0 cps to 99.9 kcps; 0.00 cpm to 999 kcpm; 0.00 Bq to 99.9 kBq; 0.00 dpm to 999 kdpm; 0.00 μR/h to 999 R/h; 0.00 μSv/h to 999 Sv/h. Max Display can be set to limit display to calibrated range.

· Must have a user-selectable response time from 1 to 60 seconds, or Auto-Response Rate FAST or SLOW. Also, a “click” audio greater than 65 dB at 0.6 m (2 ft), alarm audio greater than 72 dB at 0.6 m (2 ft), approximately 4.5 kHz.

· Must have a mode to be able to measure and display maximum dose rate, if the measured rate is greater than the displayed value.

· Must be able to manually start dose measurements commonly called “dose accumulate and hold” and display the result.

· Must be able to automatically measure and display the dose and duration of a single exposure (“auto dose”).

· Must include a carrying case.

· Must provide automatic corrections for temperature, pressure, and chamber calibration when using ion chambers.

· Must include alpha, beta, and gamma survey; frisking, sample counting. Pancake-type, halogen-quenched GM. With efficiency of 5% for 14C; 22% for 90Sr/90Y; 19% for 99Tc; 32% for 32P; 15% for 239Pu; ≤1% for 99mTc; 0.2% for 125I.

· Must include a Gamma Detector low-level, wide-energy gamma detection with an energy response.

· Must have a sensitivity of around 900 cpm/μR/hr (137Cs gamma) and efficiency of 125I for 4%; 57Co for 20%; 137Cs for 9%; 60Co for 15% with an energy range of 50 KeV–3.0 MeV.
