About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the preservation of boat boom davits, Shaw Box electric hoists, and capstan parts for the USCGC WYACONDA. The scope requires a contractor to media blast and paint two boat boom davits (approximately 100 sq ft each), two Shaw Box electric hoists (approximately 10 sq ft each), one capstan deck plate (approximately 30 sq ft), one capstan barrel (approximately 30 sq ft), two capstan guards (approximately 10 sq ft), and other miscellaneous parts (not to exceed 30 sq ft) at the contractor's indoor facility.

The work is to be performed at the CG Schlimme Industrial Facility in St. Louis, MO from April 2-30, 2025. The contractor must transport the parts to and from the facility, prepare surfaces by sand-blasting to SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2 standards, and apply specific coating systems with different colors: Spar Buff for davits, matching existing blue for Shaw Box hoists, and grey/green (inorganic zinc) for capstan components. Multiple quality assurance inspections are required throughout the process, including environmental readings, surface profile measurements, and coating thickness verification. The Coast Guard will provide oversight and inspection at various stages of the preservation work.
