About this file

This document appears to be a set of questions and answers related to an antenna and coaxial cable replacement project for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at the Baileys Crossroads tower site. The key details are:

The existing four antennas and coaxial lines at the Baileys Crossroads site are not functioning properly and need to be removed and replaced. The contract requires the vendor to remove the old equipment, install four new customer-furnished VHF antennas and coaxial cables, provide grounding and weatherproofing, and perform antenna system sweeping and reporting. The government will supply the new antennas, coaxial cables, and other materials. The work must be completed before May 31, 2024. The document addresses logistical details such as parking, elevator access, coaxial cable routing, and the need for a phased cutover to avoid a full site outage during the replacement.

ANTENNA/FEEDLIN

E REPLACEMENT

BAILEY’S

CROSSROADS

AGENDA

• Address question posed by potential vendors

• Parking

• Grounding

• Access

• Visuals of locations

• Antenna location and feed runs

BAILEY’S CROSSROADS

1. Is it the contractors or the FBIs responsibility to integrate the equipment once the new equipment is installed?

• It is the responsibility of FBI Personal to integrate equipment once the new equipment is installed.

• There will be an FBI representative onsite to assist with any and all questions concerning equipment installation.

PARKING

THERE ARE TWO OPTIONS TO PARK. THERE ARE LOCATED JUST

OUTSIDE THE GATE OF THE SECURITY BOOTH OR… DEPENDING ON

ROOM AND TRAFFIC THE DAY OF THE INSTALLATION, INSIDE THE

LOADING DOC ENTRANCE.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT TO GAIN ACCESS TO

SITE

1. Are there special requirements for gaining access to the site?

• There are no special requirements to gain access.

• Contractor will just need to check in with the security booth and contact FBI POC at assist with access.

• If it would make things easier there can be an FBI representative on site to assist the contractor with gaining access.

• Security personnel as well as building engineers were notified that there will be a company there to install new equipment and will need access to equipment room and Antenna location.

ELEVATOR ACCESS

1. Is there a service elevator that can be used to haul equipment up and down the building?

• The service elevator is located on floor G2 and will take you to the Penthouse.

• The demotions for this service elevator is 7½’w x 5¼’L. I recommend that the spool be broken down into sizable roll to fit inside the elevator.

• There is a access code that the FFBI representative will need to input to gain access to Penthouse.

Are the antenna rooftop mounted or are they on the side of the building?

• The antennas are located on the roof of the building, and they are roof mounted.

Access to the antennas.

• To access the location where the antennas are located you will need to head to the rear of the Penthouse just past the equipment room.

• There is landing where there are two ladders that lead up to the roof where the antennas and feed lines are located.

• This is the second ladder.

• There is no other way to access the roof but up these ladders.

• This might pose a potential delay because vendor will need to hoist the new equipment up to the roof.

Continued…

1. COAX Run

2. Does the coax run through the building in walls/ceiling to an equipment room or is the entire system on the rooftop?

• There are two locations where coax enters the building.

• Depending on material I’d recommend this be left up to the contractor where they want to enter.

• The coax runs to a junction just below the antenna location along the wall, around the inside perimeter of the building and into an access panel to the room where the equipment is located.

COAX Run

Wall Runs

• Once the COAX enters the building, it runs along the wall to the equipment room.

Wall Runs

• Continued…

Equipment Room Access

• The COAX enters the room through access panels located at the top of the equipment room.

What type of grounding is currently in place?

• There were multiple types of grounding and 2 locations along the run to the equipment room.

• There are also ground locations at the antenna.

What type of grounding is currently in place?

2nd Grounding block.

SINCE THESE RADIOS AND ANTENNAS AREN’T WORKING PROPERLY, CAN THEY BE

SHUT DOWN ALL AT ONCE OR WILL THERE BE A CUTOVER ONE LINE AT A TIME

AND THEN BROUGHT BACK UP AFTER BEING SWEPT?

• The system can not be down all at once. It would have to be cutover one line at a time.

• This decision however will need to be made by higher management.

• It is possible to coordinate a full site outage
