About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details a power upgrade project for Building 2063 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, involving replacing an existing 500kVA transformer with a 750kVA transformer and comprehensive electrical system improvements. The project scope includes installing new electrical circuits, outlets, sub-panels, and compressed air drops across multiple warehouse areas and caged spaces, with specific requirements for each location such as dedicated circuits for forklift chargers, battery charging stations, workbenches, and test equipment.

Key technical specifications include installing 110V AC, 20A outlets in various rooms (127A, 126A, 125A, 123B, 120A, 117B, 147B), a 240V AC three-phase outlet in CAGE-4, and compressed air drops near bay doors. The upgrade aims to eliminate extension cord usage, improve workplace safety by reducing slip/trip/fall hazards, and ensure compliance with fire codes. The project requires adherence to the Electrical National Code and base A/E Manual, with mandatory government/architect approval for all receptacle locations before installation.

Statement of Work (SOW): Power Upgrade Project - Building 2063

1. Introduction The Statement of Work (SOW) outlines the power upgrade requirements for Building 2063. The project involves replacing exterior existing 500kVA, 12.47V/480V/277V, 3Ph, 4W transformer to a 750kVA, 12.47V/480V/277V, 3Ph, 4W transformer. The scope of work includes installing new electrical circuits, outlets, sub-panels, and compressed air drops to accommodate current and future operational needs. The upgrade is not only intended to power new equipment but also to provide additional power access in locations where there are extension cords so they can be eliminated providing more safer area to work. The project aims to correct the hazards associated with slips, trips, falls, and fire risks. The additional outlets will ensure employees have the required power at workstations without violating fire codes.

2. Scope of Work The power upgrade will be implemented across multiple areas of the facility, each with specific electrical requirements. The details are provided below by room/location with a reference to the LEGEND from the warehouse layout.

3. Warehouse Power Upgrades

3.1 Forklift Charger (A)

• Install a dedicated circuit for a forklift charger.

• Power requirements: 480V AC, 15A, 3-phase.

3.2 General Warehouse Outlets (B)

• Install a total of four (4) additional 110V AC, 20A outlets (**B**).

• These outlets will be placed on the minimal number of circuits necessary to allow access to power in different locations throughout the warehouse.

3.3 West Corner of Warehouse (B, E)

• Install six (6) 110V AC, 20A circuits to support simultaneous device operation.

• Each outlet must support a maximum load of 15A AC.

• Install a dedicated sub-panel (**E**) for these circuits to allow technicians easy access for resetting breakers.

3.4 Compressed Air Drops (D)

• Install compressed air drops (**D**) at each of the two bay doors in the warehouse.

4. Caged Areas in the Warehouse

4.1 CAGE-1 (B)

• Install enough 110V AC, 20A outlets (**B**) to power 24 six-bay battery chargers.

• Each battery charger has a maximum current draw of 1.5A at 110V AC and must have its plug.

• Outlets must be spaced appropriately to comply with fire codes, eliminating the need for extension cords or power strips.

4.2 CAGE-2 (B)

• Install one (1) 110V AC, 20A outlet (**B**) outside the cage near the entrance.

4.3 CAGE-3 (B)

• Install two (2) 110V AC, 20A outlets (**B**) to provide power access for workbenches.

4.4 CAGE-4 (C)

• Install one (1) 240V AC, three-phase outlet (**C**) for test equipment required for power supply testing.

5. Additional Rooms Power Upgrades

127A (B, D)

• Install eight (8) 110V AC, 20A outlets (**B**), split into two circuits.

• Each circuit supports a maximum of two systems drawing 8A at 110V AC.

• Install two compressed air drops (**D**) next to the bay doors.

126A (B, D)

• Install two (2) 110V AC, 20A outlets (**B**) on a single circuit.

• Install one compressed air drop (**D**) next to the bay door.

125A (B, D)

• Install six (6) 110V AC, 20A outlets (**B**) for general power access.

• Install one compressed air drop (**D**) next to the bay door.

123B (B, D)

• Install five (5) 110V AC, 20A outlets (**B**) for general power access.

• Install one compressed air drop (**D**) next to the bay door.

• Expected peak usage: One test equipment and one power supply drawing up to 10A.

120A (B)

• Install one (1) additional 110V AC, 20A outlet (**B**) on an adjacent wall.

117B (B)

• Install enough 110V AC, 20A outlets (**B**) to power 24 six-bay battery chargers.

• Each charger draws a maximum of 1.5A at 110V AC and must have its plug.

• Outlets must be spaced appropriately to comply with fire codes, eliminating the need for extension cords or power strips.

Outside (Southeast Wall of 2063) (B)

• Install two (2) 110V AC, 20A outlets (**B**).

• Each outlet must support shore power devices requiring a full 20A.

147B (B)

• Install four (4) separate 110V AC, 20A circuits (**B**) to support five new cubicle-style workstations.

• Each workstation has built-in circuits requiring dedicated lines.

6. Conclusion The upgrade project ensures that all necessary workspaces and equipment have reliable power. All work must adhere to the Electrical National Code and base A/E Manual. In addition, obtain government/architect approval for all receptacle locations before installation.
