About this file

This PowerPoint presentation is an Industry Day brief for PMA-264 Air Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Systems, focusing on the UnderSea Advantage (USA) Block 1 Digital Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording (DIFAR) Vertical Line Array (DDVLA) program. The presentation outlines the development of a new sonobuoy (SSQ-145) with enhanced acoustic detection capabilities for underwater target identification, specifically designed for platforms like the P-8A aircraft. The program aims to improve ASW capabilities through a system of systems that includes a new sonobuoy, software, signal processing, and related technologies.

The contracting strategy involves a competitive Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) planned for FY26, with an Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase targeting completion of a Level II Technical Data Package, system demonstration by Q1FY28, and Program Verification & Validation by Q2FY29. SeaLandAire Technologies is currently developing a prototype through a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase III effort. The government is seeking industry partners for manufacturing, with potential paths including teaming agreements, sub-system suppliers, and component suppliers. The program involves international partners and aims to accelerate capabilities through early partner investment.

Industry Day Objectives Provide an overview of PMA-264 future capabilities/requirements related to UnderSea Advantage (USA) Block 1

Evaluate industrial base interest in fulfilling requirements

Conduct thorough Market Research to assist the Government with developing a robust Request for Proposal (RFP) package

Gain Industry insight/perspective on program strategy and potential industry risk areas

Provide an opportunity to hold one-on-one discussions with Industry

20 Aug 2025 NAVAIR Public Release 2025-0474. Distribution Statement A – Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited As of Aug 2025 UnderSea Advantage (USA) Block 1 USA is a system of systems that includes a new sonobuoy (SSQ-145 Digital Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording (DIFAR) Vertical Line Array (DDVLA)), software, enhanced signal processing, displays, and trainers

The SSQ-145 and USA processing increases the search size and adds detection capability over wide areas in deep ocean environments to work with and complement the MAC-E sensors and processing capabilities

SeaLandAire Technologies, Inc., a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase III effort, is currently on contract to develop a prototype with DIFAR sensor elements in vertical line arrays with enhanced processing

This new capability will provide the Fleet with substantial array gain for a variety of noise and threat environments packaged into an A-size sonobuoy

Completion of this prototyping effort and the delivery of a Level II Technical Data Package (TDP) marks the beginning of the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase
