About this file
This document is an Addendum to a Request for Bids issued by the Town of Medfield, Massachusetts for the Philip Street Bridge Superstructure Replacement project. The project involves the removal of the existing timber bridge structure and installation of a prefabricated timber bridge, as well as cleaning the existing bridge seat, completing localized concrete repairs to the existing substructure, cutting the existing anchor bolts flush and installing new anchor bolts, and repairing loose and displaced stones and voids in the existing masonry walls. The bid opening date is Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 10am. The addendum provides clarifications and revisions to the bidding requirements, including the removal of the DCAM pre-qualification requirement and the specification of eight 3'-0" x 14'-0" prefabricated bridge panel sections. The addendum also addresses questions from bidders regarding the bridge delivery, concrete repair procedures, and erosion control requirements.
The document does not provide an engineer's estimate for the project cost. Payment for erosion control measures is considered incidental to the contract. All hardware will be provided by the fabricator, while the contractor will be responsible for providing an accepted grouting material. The extent of granite masonry repairs and concrete repairs at the existing abutments will be determined in the field by the Resident Engineer and paid for under the applicable pay items.
