Performance Work Statement (PWS) Biomedical Engineering / Maintenance and Repair Services Armed Forces Retirement Home – Gulfport, MS (AFRH-G) Background. The Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH-G) is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), dating back to 1851 when it was established as the United States Soldiers Home. In 1991, the AFRH-G became an independent Federal agency and is the only agency that does not receive appropriated (tax payer) funds for its operation. The Agency’s income flows from enlisted men and women serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and in a trust fund that has operated since the Home’s beginning.

There are two Campuses that make up the Armed Forces Retirement Home. One is located in our nation’s capital of Washington D.C. and the other located here along the scenic coast of Gulfport, Mississippi. Bother campuses have the high honor of providing exceptional care to our Nations’ retired defenders. The total max population at the Gulfport Campus is 594, this includes a mixture of independent living, assisted living, memory support and long term care for our residents.
