PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
FOR
Gage Block Flatness Interferometer Upgrade
1. SCOPE: This is a procurement to obtain new lasers and power supplies that will be installed in the
Davidson Optronics Gage Block Flatness Interferometer, Part Number D327-101. The
Interferometer’s are used by the Air Force Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratories (PMELs) and the Air Force Primary Standards Laboratory (AFPSL) during the calibration of gage blocks.
Specifically, the Interferometers are used to measure surface flatness and to evaluate surface defects on gage blocks. The upgrade will replace the built-in laser and power supply.
2. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
2.1. Procure Meredith Instruments Part Number HNH-DOI Helium Neon (HeNe) Yellow Line
Laser, 594 nm (11.69 µin), 2mW.
2.2. Procure Meredith Instruments Part Number DG-22 Helium Neon (HeNe) Laser Power Supply.
3. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
3.1. The new laser and power supply shall be able to be installed into the interferometer without any modifications.
4. MECHANICAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
4.1. Electrical Power Connections: The laser and power supply shall operate using 110 volts AC at
50/60 Hz, 15 amps.
5. SHIPPING CONTAINER:
5.1. The vendor shall ship the new laser and power supply to the designated locations.
5.2. The vendor shall provide a shipping container and pay shipping costs to return the old laser and power supply from the designated locations back to the vendor for recycling.
6. ENVIRONMENT, SAFETY, AND OPERATIONAL HEALTH:
6.1. A combination of the system manual, other documentation, and/or the system itself shall identify potential environment, safety and operational health hazards and how they are mitigated when the design itself cannot mitigate them. This will be accomplished through stating the hazard and accompanying mitigation through the use of safety devices, use of warnings, or use of special operational procedures to counter such hazards.
7. INSTALLATION and TRAINING: Not required.
8. TESTING: The upgraded interferometer will be inspected, tested and accepted at a destination specified elsewhere in this contract. Such testing does not relieve the contractor of performing all inspections and quality control checks at the point of fabrication as necessary to assure performance as specified.
9. WARRANTY: The vendor shall warrant all replaced components for a minimum of one-year.
