About this file

This is an email approval document involving the City of Santa Monica and Big Blue Bus regarding post-consumer recycled content (PCRC) compliance for a print services Request for Quotation (RFQ). The correspondence, dated between January and October 2025, documents Robert McCall's request to Karl Bruskotter for approval of paper product purchases that meet a 30% PCRC requirement. Big Blue Bus plans to issue an RFQ for general printing services, with most specialized materials not currently available through the City Print Shop with the required minimum 30% post-consumer recycled content. Robert McCall identified certain paper products that are more widely available with the required PCRC specification and submitted a pricing table for Karl Bruskotter's review and approval, which was granted on October 8, 2025.

The file indicates that environmental sustainability requirements, specifically the 30% post-consumer recycled content mandate, are a key consideration in the print services procurement. Karl Bruskotter's approval of the highlighted paper products suggests that the procurement will move forward with these PCRC-compliant materials despite the limited availability of specialized printing materials that meet the recycled content threshold. No specific pricing amounts, contract term, award dates, or other detailed financial terms are disclosed in the email correspondence itself.

Hello Robert, I’m doing fine. Hope things are going well with you.

Yes, the highlighted paper product purchases with 30% PCRC looks good to me.

Thanks for running it by me.

Karl

Hello Karl, I hope you've been well!

Big Blue Bus plans to issue another RFQ for general printing services. Many of the materials outlined in the RFQ are specialized and not currently carried by the City Print Shop.

As a result, most of the materials are not readily available with the required minimum of 30% post-consumer recycled content (PCRC). However, I've identified some that are more widely available, and highlighted them in the following pricing table: Big Blue Bus - Print Services RFQ - Bid Specifications_FINAL.xlsx

When time allows, could you kindly review and approve the pricing table attached?

Thank you in advance for your review! Please let me know if you have any questions.

-Robert
