About this file

This document is a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Population Approaches to Reducing Alcohol-related Cancer Risk (R01 Clinical Trial Optional) federal grant opportunity.

The NOFO aims to support research on interdisciplinary population approaches to increasing awareness of the relationship between alcohol and cancer risk, understanding and changing social norms related to alcohol consumption, developing and/or evaluating alcohol policy approaches, and the development, testing, and implementation of population-level interventions to reduce alcohol-related cancer risk. Applications that address multiple levels of consumption, such as moderate and heavy drinking, as well as those focusing on alcohol use disorder (AUD) from the cancer prevention and control perspective are of particular interest. Proposals addressing understudied areas and underrepresented minority populations experiencing cancer and alcohol-related disparities are encouraged.

The funding opportunity is administered by the Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health under the Alcohol Research Programs (CFDA 93.273) and Cancer Biology Research (CFDA 93.396) grant programs. Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations such as tribal, state, and local governments, higher education institutions, nonprofits, for-profit companies, and small businesses.
