About this file
This is a Packaging Requirements document (AFMC Form 158) for federal contract FD20202600413-00, establishing packaging and shipping standards for item 1680ND101641GXM under MIL-STD 129 Revision R and MIL-STD 2073-1 Revision E.
The document mandates compliance with United Nations restrictions on wood packaging material (WPM) to prevent invasive species transmission, particularly the pinewood nematode. All wooden pallets, crates, skids, and dunnage must be constructed from debarked wood and heat-treated to 56 degrees Celsius (133 degrees Fahrenheit) for a minimum of 30 minutes. Certification and marking by an accredited agency recognized by the American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC) is required, with reference to International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM No. 15). Items shall be packaged in accordance with ASTM D3951 (Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging), with individual shipments exceeding 150 pounds, 108 inches in length, or 130 inches in girth plus length requiring skidded crates or palletized packaging suitable for forklift handling. Shipping containers must comply with MIL-STD-129 military marking standards and include any additional markings specified on the AFMC Form 158 (such as unit serial numbers, OEM names, or model numbers). The exterior container must be marked "ASTM D3951 - NOT FOR OUTSIDE STORAGE" and be readable from 24 inches. The packaging requirement is classified as Commercial Packaging (COM) preservation level. Packaging Specialist Wendy L. Monson (406 SCMS/GULAA, 801-777-1457) signed this document on 11 February 2026.
