About this file

This is a Public Water Supply Permit issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Safe Drinking Water for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's I-70 Warfordsburg Westbound Welcome Center located in Bethel Township, Fulton County. The permit authorizes construction and operation of water supply facilities, specifically approving well pump replacement, water treatment upgrades, ion exchange softening, reverse osmosis treatment, sodium hypochlorite disinfection, and associated infrastructure improvements. The permit is dated January 28, 2025, and includes specific technical requirements for water treatment processes, flow rates, and system monitoring.

The permit details technical specifications for Well B, which has an approved pumping rate of 27 gallons per minute, and establishes precise operational parameters for various treatment systems. Key requirements include weekly total dissolved solids (TDS) sampling, quarterly iron and manganese testing, NSF-certified chemical treatments, and maintenance of specific equipment logs. The permittee must retain a certified water operator, maintain comprehensive records, and adhere to strict monitoring protocols for chlorine levels, water quality, and treatment system performance. The permit emphasizes regulatory compliance with the Pennsylvania Safe Drinking Water Act and requires detailed documentation and reporting to ensure safe drinking water standards are consistently met.
