2237 request number 550‐21‐1‐044‐0010 was submitted in regard to this requirement.
2. Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount:
The VA Iliana Healthcare System in Danville Illinois requires software maintenance and software support for the Medication Reconciliation Tool for Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 12 Site located in Danville, IL (VA Iliana Healthcare System) for a one (1) year base period with three (3) option years, exercisable at the Government’s discretion. The MedRec Tool works by combining lists of all medications from multiple sources into a single, easy to manage, master list. The medications are logically ordered so that the user can efficiently and accurately reconcile medications at patient admission and discharge. The MedRec Tool allows the provider to generate patient‐friendly lists specifying new, changed, or discontinued medications.
The estimated value of the requirement is $177,600, if all options are exercised.
3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used:
Avicenna owns an exclusive license to the MedRec Tool and related technologies as detailed under
License Agreement VA ID# 2016‐186. Due to the application complexities; the Government does not possess the capability to develop an adequate competitive technical data package. Avicenna does not have any affiliations or agreements in place with any authorized resellers to resolve technical problems and/or provide maintenance and support. The MedRec tool was created specifically for the Veteran Health Information Systems Technology and Architecture (Vista). The MedRec tool is the only known tool that can be fully integrated with the Vista/Computerized Patient Record System
(CPRS).
