BAA 08-012 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
EXPEDITIONARY MANEUVER WARFARE APPLIED RESEARCH AND ADVANCED
TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT
Q4: The BAA lists the white paper due date as April 3, 2008 and I want to verify that this date still holds for the white papers and that it has not been changed.
A4: Yes. 3 April is the deadline.
Q5: Regarding the "Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare Applied Research and Advanced
Technology Development" BAA, and Thrust Area 6.6.3a "Robotics, Unmanned Platforms and Autonomous Operations" in particular, do you know if there is any interest in funding the development of low-cost 3-D LADAR sensors suitable for autonomous ground vehicles? Knowledge of the interest level would support our internal request for funds to complete the ROM costing exercise needed for the white paper.
A5: ONR30's Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare Program is not interested in low-cost 3-D LADAR sensors at this time.
Q6: How much total funding per year do you have for this BAA?
A6: We estimate approximately $50M spread over FY09-FY11.
Q7: How many awards do you anticipate will be made per year?
A7: Unknown.
Q8: Is there is new-start funding available, and if so, roughly what percentage of the total funding will go for new-starts in FY-09?
A8: Depends on the quantity/quality of white papers and proposals received.
Q9: Which technology categories in the BAA are the highest priority in terms of funding availability?
A9: All have equal priority.
Q10: I have a brief question with respect to BAA 08-012. Is this an announcement directed towards colleges and universities or is this intended to solicit input from defense contractor companies? Thanks so much for your assistance.
A10: We are looking for responses from all interested organizations to include government, industry, and academia.
Q11: There’s a typo in the BAA, towards the top of page 20 *Anticipated Period of
Performance: Up to three (5) years. Can you clarify the period of performance (either three or five years, I assume).
A11: Its 3 years.
