BAA 08-012 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

EXPEDITIONARY MANEUVER WARFARE APPLIED RESEARCH AND ADVANCED

TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT

Q1: What targeting sensors are anticipated?

A1: A range of stand-off sensing and warning of targeting modalities continue to be explored and include, but not limited to, radars, and optical, infrared, and hyperspectral imaging sensors. It is expected that multiple modalities would be utilized to enhance false alarm rejection and possibly tailored to specific mission capabilities. Additional approaches to accomplishing stand-off sensing and warning of targeting are desired for this BAA.

Q2: "For fratricide, is the concern inadvertently firing on friendly forces in the vicinity of an enemy employing RAM, firing on friendly forces employing RAM, or both?"

A2: The concerns for fratricide include direct threat to friendly combatants in close proximity to the neutralization method (either as a result of the neutralization method itselft or its effect on the incoming threat) and threat to non-combatants and friendly combatants from any explosion, debris, or toxic byproduct associated with either the neutralization method or the neutralized.

Q3: Do we include multiple topics in one white paper or submit separate white papers for each topic?

A3: For ease and efficiency of review, please separate white papers by research thrust areas.
