About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by Federal Prison Industries (UNICOR), operating under the Department of Justice Bureau of Prisons, seeking market feedback to inform development of a future five-year leather procurement agreement. UNICOR's Office Furniture Group requires various colors and styles of leather to manufacture task, ergonomic, and lounge seating products assembled by federal inmate workers. The RFI is intended to expand the pool of domestic small-business vendors and increase qualified supplier participation.

Respondents must address four specific questions: confirmation of interest and company background; confirmation that leather materials are U.S.-manufactured or specification of country of origin; current small business registration status on SAM.gov; and general market information including industry-standard lead times, appropriate pricing indices for Economic Price Adjustments, standard ordering quantities, and available leather colors. Responses must be submitted electronically to tiffani.balestrini@usdoj.gov with the subject line "RFI RESPONSE - Leather OFG-RFI0032-26 (Your Organization Name)" no later than 12:00 PM EST on Friday, September 4, 2026.
