About this file
The document is a Sole Source Procurement Notice from the City of North Miami Beach, Florida, specifically the NMB Water Department, intending to purchase Vega Radars from Vega Americas, Inc. The procurement involves acquiring 20 VEGAPULS C 21 wired radar sensors for continuous level measurement and 10 VEGADIS 82 external display and adjustment units, with a total anticipated cost of $26,205.00. The Notice of Intent was published on March 7, 2025, with written responses due by March 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM. This is not a competitive bidding process, but rather a sole source procurement under the City Code Section 3-4.8, with responses being considered solely to determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
The sole source justification centers on the Water Department's existing infrastructure and operational needs. The Vega radars are currently utilized in lift stations to provide non-contact level measurement, feeding data to the Programmable Logic Controller to prevent material overflow. Many existing sensors have exceeded their expected life cycle and are beyond repair. The city seeks uniform equipment to ensure seamless integration with the existing SCADA system, reduce compatibility risks, simplify troubleshooting, and streamline inventory management. Vega's proven reliability in water treatment applications aligns with the city's goals of precision, efficiency, and minimal downtime. The procurement will be funded through two account numbers: FY25: 450910-535460 ($24,948.00) and FY25: 450910-535420 ($1,257.00).

Request Department/Office: NMB Water
Product and/or services to be purchased: Purchase of Vega Radars from Vega Americas, Inc
Anticipated Cost: $ 26,205.00
Sole Source Justification: The City of North Miami Beach’s Water Department requires the purchase of Vega radars which is currently utilized by the Lift stations. This standardization also streamlines inventory management, allowing for consolidated spare parts and replacement units, which reduces procurement complexities and lowers overall costs. Vega’s proven reliability and performance in water treatment applications further align with our facility’s goals of precision, efficiency, and minimal downtime, making them uniquely suited to meet our long-term operational needs
