About this file
This document is an update notice from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services Department of Public Health regarding the purchase of pediatric and adult vaccines for their immunization program. The notice states that the Department of Public Health's Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Sciences (BIDLS) plans to purchase vaccines from a list of vendors approved by the CDC. This program has been in place since 2004 and is currently authorized by Chapter 28 of the Acts of 2014. The notice lists the specific vaccine manufacturers that BIDLS contracts with, including GlaxoSmithKline LLC, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Pfizer, Inc., Novartis Vaccines & Diagnostics, Sanofi, and Seqirus USA, Inc.
The vaccines purchased through this mechanism are distributed via the CDC's McKesson vaccine distribution contract at no additional cost to the Commonwealth. This program enables the Commonwealth to purchase vaccines at the lowest available pricing that is made available to the CDC by the vaccine manufacturers, as the manufacturers directly contract with the CDC without using third party wholesalers.
