About this file
This is a Notice of Intent to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order for Chromium GEM-X sequencing reagents (Contract Number 75N98026Q01149). The National Institutes of Health, specifically the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), intends to award the contract to 10X Genomics, Inc. The sequencing reagents are required for a single cell RNA sequencing study of Gulf War Illness patient populations, with results to be correlated with clinical presentation and immunological assays. The acquisition will provide gene expression, T cell receptor, and B cell receptor library preparation kits necessary for sequencing and subsequent data analysis. To maintain consistent research conditions and experimental protocols across several ongoing projects, the same reagent kits must be continuously utilized.
The Government will issue an award approximately ten days after the notice date unless another vendor demonstrates capability to meet the requirement. While this is not a competitive solicitation, eligible small businesses—including 8(a) firms, service-disabled veteran-owned, HUBZone, small disadvantaged, veteran-owned, and women-owned small businesses—may submit written capability statements demonstrating their ability to perform the requirement by the deadline. Responses must be emailed to david.shen@nih.gov no later than 3:00 p.m. EDT on September 10, 2026. Award determination is based on FAR Part 6.302-1, and the Government retains sole discretion to compete the award based on responses received.

Notice of Intent: Chromium GEM-X sequencing reagents
(75N98026Q01149)
In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the National Institutes of Health intends to award a Firm- Fixed-Price Purchase Order to 10X Genomics, Inc.
10X Genomics sequencing reagents are needed as part of a single cell RNA sequencing study of Gulf War Illness (GWI) patient populations in National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). Results from this study will be used to correlate single cell sequencing data with clinical presentation and other immunological assays. The purpose of this acquisition is to prepare the necessary gene expression, T cell receptor and B cell receptor libraries necessary for sequencing and subsequent data analysis. To maintain the research condition and collect the research data using the same experimental protocol, the library preparation kits would be continuously efficient and useful for several ongoing research projects.
This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any available small businesses (e.g., 8(a), service-disabled veteran owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small business) as stated herein may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports and demonstrates their ability to perform the requirement. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed award based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
It is anticipated that an award will be issued approximately ten (10) days after the date of this notice unless the Government determines that another vendor has the capability to meet this requirement.
Please email responses to david.shen@nih.gov no later than 3:00 p.m. EDT on Sep 10, 2026.
