About this file

This is a Notice of Intent announcing a single-source award for a flow cytometry system. The National Institutes of Health intends to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Cytek Biosciences, Inc. for a Cytek Aurora Evo flow cytometer (Contract Number 75N98026Q00747). The acquisition involves trading in the current Cytek Northern Lights system and is justified under FAR Part 6.302-1 based on the specific technical requirements and compatibility needs of the Experimental Immunotherapeutics Unit.

The flow cytometer will be used for processing clinical samples from patients with progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) and control cohorts in natural history studies and interventional trials. The current Northern Lights system lacks sufficient capacity for ongoing complex clinical trials and patient monitoring. The Cytek Aurora Evo must be compatible with an identical instrument previously purchased by the Viral Immunology Section to ensure compatibility of reagents, analysis protocols, and interpretation of study endpoints. Small businesses, including 8(a), service-disabled veteran-owned, HUBZone, small disadvantaged, veteran-owned, and women-owned small businesses, may submit written capability statements by 11:00 p.m. EDT on July 17, 2026, to david.shen@nih.gov. The Government reserves the right to compete the award based on capability statement responses. Award is anticipated approximately ten days after the notice date unless the Government determines another vendor can meet the requirements.

Notice of Intent: Cytek Aurora Evo flow cytometer

(75N98026Q00747)

In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the National Institutes of Health intends to award a Firm- Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Cytek Biosciences, Inc. This acquisition involves a trade-in of the current Cytek Northern Lights system.

The purpose of this acquisition is to procure an upgraded flow cytometry system that the Experimental Immunotherapeutics Unit (EIU) currently uses for processing clinical samples for patients with progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) and control patient cohorts enrolled in natural history studies and interventional trials. The current flow cytometer system, Cytek Northern Lights, does not have sufficient capacity to support ongoing complex clinical trials and patient monitoring. The replacement of the Northern Lights system will allow the EIU to continue to accomplish all future goals and plans, and specifically, the determination of flow cytometric outcome measures in ongoing and future clinical trials in PML. Importantly, assays previously developed on the Northern Lights system can be transferred to the Cytek Aurora, allowing a seamless workflow. This flow cytometer must be compatible with the instrument (Cytek Aurora) purchased by the Viral Immunology Section (VIS) as clinical samples are shared across these closely collaborating laboratories to fulfill study endpoints as required by protocols, as well as to inform clinical decisions. A compatible flow cytometer also ensures compatibility of reagents, analysis protocols and interpretation of study endpoints.

This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any available small businesses (e.g., 8(a), service-disabled veteran owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small business) as stated herein may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports and demonstrates their ability to perform the requirement. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed award based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.

It is anticipated that an award will be issued approximately ten (10) days after the date of this notice unless the Government determines that another vendor has the capability to meet this requirement.

Please email responses to david.shen@nih.gov no later than 11:00 p.m. EDT on July 17, 2026.
