About this file

This is a Notice of Intent to award a firm-fixed-price purchase order for laboratory equipment. The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), part of the National Institutes of Health, intends to award a purchase order to Miltenyi Biotec, Inc. for a gentleMACS Octo Dissociator with Heaters (Contract Number 75N98026Q00731). The equipment is an automated benchtop tissue dissociation system designed to standardize workflows for isolating and preparing single-cell suspensions from animal and human tissue samples. The system processes multiple samples simultaneously using controlled mechanical dissociation combined with temperature-regulated enzymatic digestion to generate high-quality suspensions from fresh, frozen, and fixed tissues. The instrument supports processing of rodent, non-human primate, and human tissues while improving reproducibility and reducing hands-on processing time. The gentleMACS Dissociators work exclusively with gentleMACS Tubes or Perfusers in closed systems; the tubes feature a unique rotor/stator mechanism for tissue dissociation or homogenization, and the perfusers include a peristaltic pump with needles for automated tissue perfusion.

The award is being made under FAR Part 6.302-1 (sole-source justification). Small businesses, including 8(a), service-disabled veteran-owned, HUBZone, small disadvantaged, veteran-owned, and women-owned small businesses, may submit written capability statements demonstrating their ability to perform the requirement by 11:00 p.m. EDT on July 10, 2026, to david.shen@nih.gov. The Government reserves the discretion to compete the award based on capability statement responses. An award is anticipated approximately ten days after the notice date unless another vendor demonstrates capability to meet the requirement.

Notice of Intent: gentleMACS Octo Dissociator with Heaters

(75N98026Q00731)

In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the National Institutes of Health intends to award a Firm- Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Miltenyi Biotec, Inc.

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases requires an automated tissue dissociation system to support ongoing laboratory research involving the isolation and preparation of single-cell suspensions from animal and human tissue samples. The GentleMACS Octo Dissociator with Heaters is an automated benchtop instrument designed to standardize tissue dissociation and sample preparation workflows. The system can process multiple samples simultaneously and combines controlled mechanical dissociation with temperature-regulated enzymatic digestion to generate high-quality single-cell suspensions from fresh, frozen, and fixed tissue samples. The instrument supports processing of rodent, non-human primate, and human tissues and helps improve reproducibility while reducing hands-on processing time. The gentleMACS Dissociators are the only devices that can be used in combination with the gentleMACS Tubes or Perfusers to dissociate, homogenize or perfuse various tissues in a closed system. The gentleMACS Tubes bear a unique rotor/stator system for the gentle and efficient tissue dissociation or homogenization. The gentleMACS Perfusers include a peristaltic pump and an array of needles for automated and efficient tissue perfusion.

This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any available small businesses (e.g., 8(a), service-disabled veteran owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small business) as stated herein may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports and demonstrates their ability to perform the requirement. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed award based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.

It is anticipated that an award will be issued approximately ten (10) days after the date of this notice unless the Government determines that another vendor has the capability to meet this requirement.

Please email responses to david.shen@nih.gov no later than 11:00 p.m. EDT on July 10, 2026.
