About this file

This is a Notification of Significant Partnership Action (NOSPA) from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) announcing their intent to release a Request for Information (RFI) regarding potential partnerships for the Kodiak Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) Engineering Test Unit and spaceflight hardware.

The RFI seeks responses describing alternate use cases that will benefit commercial, civil, and national objectives to advance domestic leadership in In-space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) or other LiDAR technology capabilities. The RFI will be released on December 10, 2024, with a 30-day response period. Based on RFI responses, NASA may either proceed with individual discussions or release an Announcement for Partnership Proposals (AFPP) for a reimbursable Space Act Agreement. GSFC/ETD will decide by February 28, 2025, whether to issue an AFPP. The point of contact is Russell Roder, Product Development Lead for the Kodiak LiDAR at GSFC's Engineering and Technology Directorate.

Notification of Significant Partnership Action (NOSPA)

Title: Announcement for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Request for Information (RFI) seeking information from potential interested parties regarding potential partnerships for the Kodiak Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR)

Detailed Description of Partnership Action:

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), Engineering and Technology Directorate (ETD) is currently exploring potential partnerships for alternate use cases for the Kodiak Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) Engineering Test Unit and spaceflight hardware. GSFC is seeking responses that describe alternate use cases that will benefit commercial, civil, and national objectives, thereby advancing domestic leadership in In-space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) or other capabilities requiring LiDAR technology.

Depending on the responses to this RFI, NASA may

1) proceed to have discussions with individual respondents and/or

2) release an Announcement for Partnership Proposals (AFPP) to compete this unique opportunity with NASA under a reimbursable Space Act Agreement. Any resultant agreement(s) from a potential future AFPP will define the full roles and responsibilities of NASA and the selected Partner(s).

For additional details, please see the attached RFI .
