Description

INTRODUCTION

THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION NON-COMPETITIVE (NOTICE OF INTENT) TO AWARD A CONTRACT OR PURCHASE ORDER WITHOUT PROVIDING FOR FULL OR OPEN COMPETITION (INCLUDING BRAND-NAME).

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested, and a separate written solicitation will not be issued.

The solicitation number is 75N98026Q01172-05000. This solicitation is issued as a Notice of Intent (NOI) for a non-competitive combined synopsis/solicitation to award a contract or purchase order without providing for full and open competition (including brand-name, if applicable). This is intended to be a firm-fixed price contract and awarded using a lowest price technically acceptable approach.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate and award a contract without providing for full and open competition (Including brand-name) to:

Life Technologies Corporation 5781 Van Allen Way Carlsbad, CA 92008

NORTH AMERICAN INDUSTRY CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (NAICS) CODE

The intended procurement is classified under NAICS code 334516 with a Size Standard 1,000.

REGULATORY AUTHORITY

The resultant contract will include all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through the Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2005-99-1, July 16, 2018. This acquisition is conducted under the procedures as prescribed in FAR 12.603 at an amount not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold ($350,000).

STATUTORY AUTHORITY

This acquisition is conducted under the authority of FAR 12.603, Streamlined Solicitation for Commercial Products or Commercial Services, and is not expected to exceed the simplified acquisition threshold. Additional authority includes 41 U.S.C. 1901 and FAR 6.302-3(a)(2)(ii).

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Title: EVOS M 5000 Imaging system

Background Information: The NIEHS laboratory is currently establishing in vitro human organoid models to support ongoing research. These systems require reliable, high-resolution live-cell imaging to monitor cellular morphology, differentiation, and dynamic biological processes, particularly through multi-channel fluorescence applications. This capability is essential for supporting advanced in vitro model systems, including organoid cultures and co-culture platforms used to study reproductive biology and early placental development. These efforts support ongoing intramural research in reproductive and developmental biology.

The EVOS™ M5000 Imaging System will provide essential, integrated live imaging functionality directly within the cell culture environment, enabling rapid, reproducible acquisition of high-quality fluorescence images. This capability is necessary to ensure experimental accuracy, consistency, and efficiency for ongoing and planned studies.

To do the research of our human/ mouse organoid experiments we require to check the real time live cell confluency and fluorescence imaging. The Imaging System is a compact, digital inverted microscope designed for routine laboratory research and cell culture monitoring, fluorescence imaging, and confluency analysis. It is capable of capturing high-quality images and video in multiple modes. The organoid experiments require immediate, repeated live-cell imaging under sterile, controlled conditions. Transporting samples or relying on external equipment is not feasible and may adversely affect sample integrity, fluorescence signal quality, and reproducibility. EVOS M5000SV Imaging system includes articulated LCD color monitor, GFP and RFP Light cube, also Florescence light bulb with different magnifications. Also, it supports brightfield, phase-contrast, color brightfield, and up to two channels of fluorescence imaging. This type of equipment helps to take accurate cell count as well as take good images of our human organoid culture and assembloids. It supports various imaging modes that include Fluorescence, Brightfield, Phase contrast, Multicolor imaging, Z-stacking and Time-lapse imaging.

This procurement has the following specific key requirements:

• Four-color fluorescence imaging

• Brightfield, color brightfield, and phase contrast imaging

• Autofocus and Z-stack imaging

• Time-lapse capture

• Automated cell counting and confluency analysis

• Transfection efficiency analysis

Specific objectives include:

· Enabling real-time monitoring of cellular morphology, differentiation, and dynamic biological processes

· Supporting multi-channel fluorescence imaging for analysis of protein expression, localization, and signaling pathways

· Improving experimental reproducibility and data quality by allowing imaging within controlled culture conditions

· Supporting ongoing research projects involving PGR signaling, endometrial biology, and placental development Assistance with installation and configuration is requested, as well as ongoing technical support from a local vendor.

Period of Performance: This is a one-time supply acquisition with the duration of the maintenance agreement as specified in the resulting contract or purchase order.

Delivery Location:

NIH/NIEHS

111 TW Alexander Drive Research Triangle Park, NC 27709
