About this file
This is a Questions & Answers document for Solicitation No. NIST-RFQ-26-7700851 addressing specifications for O-band optical filters. The document does not contain response dates, award dates, pricing terms, or set asides, as it is clarification material rather than a complete solicitation.
The specification requirements for the fiber-coupled optical filters with FC/APC connectors include: total insertion loss not to exceed 2.5 dB over the full tuning range from input to output fiber, with polarization-dependent loss (PDL) capped at 0.25 dB; angle-of-incidence (AOI) and cone-half-angle (CHA) acceptance contingent on compatibility with fiber coupling and loss requirements; out-of-band blocking coverage across the O-band wavelength range of 1260 nm to 1360 nm; maximum full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 0.20 nm for line item 0001 and 0.30 nm for line item 0002; and input and output connections using SMF-28 FC/APC fibers with no other constraints on physical dimensions beyond the fiber coupling and insertion loss specifications.

Questions & Answers Solicitation No. NIST-RFQ-26-7700851
O-band Optical Filters
1. Please provide the following specifications:
• Available AOI range and CHA of incident light o The filters shall be fiber-coupled with FC/APC connectors. Total insertion loss is not to exceed 2.5 dB over the full tuning range (from input to output fiber). The polarization-dependent loss (PDL) shall not exceed 0.25 dB. Any angle-of-incidence (AOI) and cone-half-angle (CHA) is acceptable so long as they are compatible with the fiber coupling, insertion loss and PDL requirements.
• Out-of-band blocking range o The out-of-band range shall cover the O-band wavelengths (1260 nm to 1360 nm)
• Maximum acceptable FWHM o The maximum FWHM of line item 0001 is 0.20nm and for line item 0002 is
0.30nm
• Physical dimensions o There is no constraint on the physical dimensions other than the input and outputs shall be SMF-28 FC/APC fibers with total insertion loss not to exceed 2.5 dB over the full tuning range (from input to output fiber).
