About this file

This document contains a request for information (RFI) from the National Archives and Records Administration seeking technology solutions for federal agencies to address Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case processing challenges. The RFI provides details on an upcoming two-day NexGen FOIA Tech Showcase 2.0 event in May 2024, where selected vendors will present video demonstrations of their FOIA technology capabilities. Interested vendors are requested to submit written responses no longer than three to five pages by a specified deadline outlining available solutions for any of the topics listed in the RFI, which include artificial intelligence for improved case processing. Responses and subsequent vendor demonstration videos will be made publicly available on the Chief FOIA Officers Council website. The goal of the Tech Showcase and this RFI is to identify FOIA technology solutions that federal agencies may consider adopting to help reduce FOIA backlogs by leveraging advanced technologies.

Text version

1. Page 1 of the RFI lists six Topics and the RFI Process section states “[e]ach vendor interested in participating may submit a written outline not to exceed three to five (3-5) pages regarding their available solution(s) for any of the topics listed above.” Could the government please clarify whether a vendor may respond to more than one topic?

Answer: It is our expectation that the vendor will respond to any/all of the topics with a single RFI response, not a separate response for each topic.

2. If a vendor is permitted to respond to more than one of the Topics, could the government please clarify whether a vendor’s entire response is limited to three to five pages or if a response to each topic is limited to three to five pages?

Answer: Yes, we still would like the response to be limited to 3-5 pages even if it covers multiple topics

3. Could the government please confirm whether written responses to NARA will be made available for public consumption similar to the 2022 responses (NexGen FOIA Tech Showcase | National Archives)?

Answer: Yes, we plan to publish the RFI and subsequent demo videos on the CFO Council page on FOIA.gov to be available to the general public.
