About this file
This document outlines New Jersey's fire protection equipment contractor certification requirements. To qualify for different contractor classifications, applicants must possess specific certifications from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) in areas such as fire alarm systems, water-based systems, and special hazard suppression systems. Additional certifications are required from the International Code Council and National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors for portable fire extinguisher and kitchen fire suppression system work. Contact information is provided for the three certifying organizations.
The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation from the Department of Veterans Affairs for fire pump repairs at the East Orange VA building in New Jersey. Offerors would need to meet the certification requirements for the applicable fire protection equipment contractor classification to be eligible for this opportunity.
