About this file

This is a Requirements/Specifications document issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Physical Measurements Lab/Time and Frequency Division/Ion Storage Group for UV optical frequency doublers (Contract Number NB688000-26-02423).

NIST requires two UV optical frequency doubling systems with the following key specifications: input wavelength of 535.6 nm ±0.1 nm, input power of 200–500 mW, output wavelength of 267.8 nm with minimum output power of 15 mW at 200 mW input, input linewidth less than 100 kHz, and cavity lock bandwidth greater than 20 kHz. The systems must include free-space collimated beam input (~1 mm Gaussian beam waist), temperature control for the non-linear optical crystal, a hermetically sealed doubling cavity with purging capability, and external cavity/crystal alignment without breaking the seal. Long-term stability (greater than 6 months) without realignment is required on a best-effort basis. Additionally, NIST is procuring one digital servo for controlling two doubling cavities with automatic relock capability and standby mode reducing UV output by at least a factor of 10, plus two spare doubling crystals for drop-in replacement. A 534 nm input laser will be supplied by NIST.

Delivery and installation must be completed within 16–18 weeks after receipt of order (ARO), with vendor technician on-site for system installation, equipment setup, and confirmation of performance. Training of laboratory users in alignment, optimization, and operation is required on-site. Government acceptance testing is expected to take 14 business days. The facility provides standard 60 Hz, 120 V power. Software and electronic manuals must be delivered. Base manufacturer warranty is acceptable, and no extended warranty or maintenance services are specified.
