About this file
This file is a Questions and Answers document for Amendment 2 of a federal contract solicitation. As a template or reference document without specific substantive content detailed in the provided text, this file serves to address inquiries submitted by potential offerors regarding the solicitation NB686000-26-01896 for a 4 Kelvin Closed Cycle Cryostat. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division (AMD), Team E-Boulder issued this amendment to clarify requirements and specifications for interested contractors. Potential offerors should reference this document alongside the Combined Synopsis/Solicitation and Requirements and Specifications documents to understand the complete scope of work and technical requirements for the equipment procurement.
The solicitation is structured as a Request for Quotation (RFQ), with all communications and submissions required to reference the solicitation number NB686000-26-01896. Amendment 1 previously modified the delivery requirement from 12 weeks to 12 months, and Amendment 2 posts answers to contractor questions without altering other terms and conditions. Contractors responding to this RFQ should review all amendments and supporting documentation to ensure accurate and compliant quotations for the 4 Kelvin Closed Cycle Cryostat equipment.

Is there a rough mass range for the samples wanting to be tested?
Typical sample <100g
And when ‘upright sample space’ is given, does that mean an inverted cold head? Or that the sample must be held in a fixed, upright orientation regardless of the cryostats form factor?
Inverted cold head configuration is required.
