About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) attachment for RFQ NB672010-26-02285 addressing technical inquiries regarding a federal contract opportunity involving measurement and CAD modeling services for a NIST 0.5 mm offset short calibration kit containing 40 components.
The Government clarifies that no prints or CAD models are currently available for the project. Contractors must measure component features including lengths, inner and outer diameters, and connector pin and collet dimensions using a measurement system with established traceability to NIST and documented minimal uncertainties. The Government requires CAD deliverables in step file format at minimum, with fully parameterized models also acceptable, provided files are importable into Ansys HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator) commercial finite-element software. The connectors contain no multiple pins—only single pins are present. While contractors may employ measurement tools such as RX Solutions CT Scanners or Hexagon Absolute Arm systems with AS1 laser technology, the Government emphasizes that the employed measurement system must maintain established traceability to NIST with minimal uncertainties as the priority, rather than specifying tool preference. The Statement of Work, Task 2, serves as the official requirement document, with the Q&A providing supplementary descriptive information that does not constitute new or conflicting requirement data.

Page Section Para.
1 General Do you have prints and CAD models for this project? No prints or CAD models are presently available for this project.
General
Do you have a more detailed list of the 40 components in NIST’s 0.5 mm offset short calibration kit?
General
What are the feature sizes and tolerances to be measured per the following request? "The manufacturer shall measure the lengths, inner and outer diameters of the devices, as well as the connector dimensions of the pin and collets."
See dimensions information in below depictions. Note: RFQ "Attachment 1 - Draft Statement of Work" is the official requirement and any content here is to provide descriptive info and does not constitute new or conflicting requirement data.
4 General Are there multiple pins in the connectors, and if so, how many? No.
General
Are you looking for a CAD output as well? If so, are you looking for a step file or a parametric model with a full feature tree? What file type are you looking for?
While Statement of Work, Task 2, states minimum requirements including step files. Fully parameterized CAD models are also acceptable. The files should be importable into commercial finite-element software, Ansys HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator).
General
We can create a CAD model for every component in the kit. We can capture part geometry using an RX Solutions CT Scanner or a Hexagon Absolute Arm using an AS1 laser. Do you have a preference?
The employeed measurement system will have an established traceability path to NIST with minimal uncertainties with documentation of traceability and uncertainties. Specific tool preference is not stated, though the Government favors low uncertainty as a priority.
