Questions and Answers for NB647020-16-04328, Crane Hoist & Installation:
1. I have Quoted a hoist about 4 months ago per Daniel Redford. He didn’t want a load brake. Why do you need a load brake?
Dan works for our maintenance division, he does not perform research work in the laboratory. We have specified a load break as it is useful when we are installing our fixturing into the test equipment.
2. Why do you want a new hoist?
Upon its last inspection the existing hoist was found to have numerous deficiencies and we have determined that it is more cost effective to replace the hoist to ameliorate operational and safety related deficiencies.
3. VFD Hoist will be variable are you okay?
If you are saying, a variable frequency drive hoist will have more than two set or defined speeds and will variable, yes we are okay with that.
4. Do you need me to requote? The quote that was given before was an estimate for market research. Now that the procurement is with the contracting department they need a Quote that references the Sol # NB647020-16-04328, date needs to be current, and it needs to be emailed directly to angela.hitt@nist.gov.

6. Page 1 Section Spec’s 111 Para 1 Your existing unit has a Weston type load brake (America Made) which you are requiring, the spec also requires a cable guide which is a (import spec) which you are also requiring. Which one would you like?
To clarify, the hoist must have some means of preventing cable overwrap, the method in which that is accomplished does not matter to us. It could be a grooved drum, a mechanical spooling device, cable guide, or some other device.
