About this file

This document contains the Questions and Answers Set 2 from the Request for Information (RFI) for the NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) Future Flight Central (FFC) Voice Communications System (VCS). The RFI seeks information from potential vendors for a turnkey VCS with 36 communication stations, 34 of which are user stations and 2 that are configured as operator or developer stations. The VCS must run on NASA-approved operating systems and provide features such as two-way radio communication, intercom, and station-to-station dial-up. The VCS should also be able to capture metrics for human factors assessments. Interested offerors are asked to submit a capability statement of 3 pages or less by April 30, 2024. The RFI is for information and planning purposes only and is not a commitment by the government to issue a solicitation.

1. Q: In the RFI, it is mentioned that "The remaining two stations shall be configured as operator or developer..." Could you please specify the functions that NASA expects to be executed from these roles?

A: Operator:

Launches exercise ensuring all channels/frequencies are functioning and recording as expected. This is considered the daily morning checkout and test prior to data collection. For the run, starts recording, ends recording, then gathers recorded files for processing and distribution.

Developer:

Works with researcher on audio requirements and definition of the exercise.

Once requirements are understood, the exercise will be built up in the system, followed by appropriate testing between all stations. Recordings must be processed and tested. Developer will then hand off the system to the Operator.

Note: Operator and Developer may be the same person.

2. Q: The requirement for computer hardware to run NASA-approved operating systems is noted. Could you provide a list of these NASA-approved operating systems or direct us to where we can obtain this information?

A: Following is a list of the NASA-Approved Operating systems and versions as of
