Section of RFP Question Answer
1 Scope of Work
How are the sound curtains to be mounted or attached to the existing structure?
The sound curtains shall be mounted using the Threaded Rod Mount. The contractor shall install based on the manufacturers recommendations.
Please refer to enclosure 7.
2 Scope of Work
How far off from the walls are the sound curtains to be installed?
36 inches as per electrical code
3 Scope of Work
Do steel support beams need to be added?
If so, does this need to be engineered?
The need for steel beams will be based on the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Scope of Work
Openings in the curtain are to be provided at door openings in the rooms. Are the openings in the curtain to also have doors themselves?
No the curtain will not have doors.
The curtain shall slide open and closed. The curtain shall be labeled as either an exit or a door.
5 Scope of Work
Are the sound curtains to be stationary except for those located in front of electrical panels? Instead of sliding panels in front of the electrical panels, can operable doors be installed in the panels at those locations?
The sound curtains will be stationary with the exception of exits and electrical panels. No operable doors shall be installed. Sliding curtains is what has been requested.
6 Scope of Work Is the air handler shown in Enclosure 4 the only air intake vents that need to be accommodated?
NO, there are two intakes. See attachment for approximate location.
7 Scope of Work
The SOW indicates no demolition. Does the carpet get glued down on top of the flooring shown in the pictures?
Yes, carpet will go over the top of elevated flooring. Make sure to match existing elevated floor pattern. Use 2’x2’ carpet tiles.
8 Scope of Work
Which walls in room 136 are the electrical panels mounted?
Please see attachment
9 Scope of Work Confirm the checker plate steel panels on the floor get covered with carpet?
Yes, they get covered and cut out so there could be access to them.
10 Scope of Work What width do you want the curtain panels to be?
Less than 1 inch
11 Scope of Work How far off the wall do the curtains need to be?
36 inches minimum
12 Scope of Work What distance needs to be maintained between the curtains and the electrical panels?
36 inches, as per electrical code
13 Scope of Work Confirm curtains cover all doors (3 man doors and 1 overhead door)?
Yes, they do cover all doors.
14 Scope of Work The RFQ states: ‘The Contractor shall not install carpet over electrical access covers. The Contractor shall refer to Enclosure Two for the location of the access covers.’ During the field walk, Hector Gomez stated that the covers are to have carpeting glued to the covers and cut flush with the edges of the covers. Please confirm what the requirement should be.
Yes, that is correct. We will need carpet glued to the electrical covers and cut flush with the covers so that our electricians could access it.
15 Scope of Work The north part of the room, from the electrical trench covers to the wall, has a raised computer floor installed that is flush with the existing concrete floor.
The Government is asking these to be covered with carpeting. The issue is that covering these will not allow these floor tile squares to be removed. Gluing the carpet to each tile separately still will not allow the tiles to be removed as they are removed with a suction cup removal tool that will not work on carpeting. Is the Government okay with these floor tiles not being able to be removed?
Yes, we are fine with these not being removable.
16 Scope of Work The acoustical soundproof curtains will need to be placed 4 feet in from the existing walls. This allows for the man doors to be opened and then go through the curtains doorways. The 4-foot clearance also allows proper access and arc flash clear area distance between the front of the panels and the curtain (front face of electrical panel to curtain clearance of approx.. 36”). The RFQ does not state any curtain placement locations. Is 4 feet from the walls acceptable to Government?
We will have approx. 36” clearance from the walls.
17 Scope of Work The south wall has the two A/C units at either end. The front face of the units are 4’-0” from the wall. Having the curtain located here allows the openings in the curtain for the air inlets to be trimmed out. There will also be clearance for the chiller lines that run from the wall to the bottom of the A/C units and maintenance clearances. Can the Government confirm that the units
Yes, units can be maintained properly with the curtains in this position.
can be maintained properly with the curtain in this position?
18 Scope of Work Please provide available As-Built drawings of the room showing the position of the roof trusses to the walls to help with the curtain hanging system design?
We do not have as-built drawings available.
19 Scope of Work Is Triple-Hat Supervision (combined Super/QC/SSHO) allowed on this project? Or does Government require three separate individuals for these positions?
Yes, triple-hat is allowed.
20 Scope of Work Do you want base trim? If so, is there a certain kind you would like?
No base trim required.
