Escalator: An escalator is a power-driven, inclined, continuous stairway used for raising or lowering passengers.
Dumbwaiter: A dumbwaiter is a hoisting and lowering mechanism equipped with a car of limited size which moves in guide rails and serves two or more landings and is used exclusively for carrying materials, and is classified by type according to the requirements of ASME A17.1
Material Lift: A material lift is a hoisting and lowering mechanism, equipped with a car, and used for transporting materials which are manually or automatically loaded or unloaded. Material Lift design has limitations related to speed, travel and use, according to the requirements of ASME A17.1 .
Moving Walks: A moving walk is a type of passenger-carrying device on which passengers are transported horizontally according tot eh requirements of ASME A17.1. Passengers can stand or walk on an uninterrupted surface that remains parallel to its direction of motion.
Vertical Platform Lifts: A vertical platform lift is a powered hoisting and lowering mechanism designed to transport mobility-impaired persons on a guided platform that travels vertically.
Inclined Stairway Lift: An inclined stairway lift is a powered, guided hoisting and lowering mechanism that is equipped with a seat and is used to transport seated passenger along a stairway.
Inclined Reciprocating Conveyor (IRC): An IRC is a power or gravity actuated hoisting and lowering mechanism that receives objects on a carrier and is not designed to carry passengers or an operator. . These units typically operate on inclines in the range of 30 deg. to 70 deg. from the horizontal.
Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor (VRC): A VRC is a power or gravity actuated mechanism that receives objects on a carrier and transmits these objects vertically between two or more levels. A VRC is not designed to carry passengers or an operator).
Automobile Lift: An automotive lift is a permanently installed or mobile lifting device that raises a vehicle by engaging structural elements of the vehicle such as wheels, body and frame members, axle housings, and wheel suspension components. Auto Lifts are defined and classified by
ALI.
Levellator: A levellator is a platform lift with less than 6 feet of travel and less than 2500 pounds capacity, permanently installed level with the lower landing.
Dock Leveler: Dock levelers are devices used to bridge the gap between a loading dock and a trailer, during loading and unloading. Dock levelers adjust vertically to the surface of a trailer bed, so that forklifts can make a smooth, safe transition into and out of the trailer.
Man-lift: A man lift is a device consisting of a power driven endless belt with hand-holds and with steps or platforms. A man-lift is used for vertical transportation of personnel from floor to floor.
