The contractor shall provide a new 50 ton down-acting Hydraulic Press System in accordance with the specifications as shown below.
I. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The system being purchased is a 50 ton Down-Acting Hydraulic Press System. It will be installed in a laboratory in a restricted area at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake, CA. The contractor shall be responsible for all equipment required to install the press. The press must pass through a 10-foot high door for installation. There is no crane or equipment in the building to assist in the installation.
II. COMPONENT SPECIFICATIONS
A. Mechanical requirements
1. Four Post down-acting configuration with stripping capabilities
2. Clamp capacity of 50 tons compression force with a minimum 2600 PSI hydraulic pressure
3. Pressure control range of 5-50 tons
4. Minimum daylight opening of 60” platen opening with a minimum cylinder stroke of 40” for full platen closure when empty.
5. The press shall be capable of full platen closure. This may be accomplished with either a 60” cylinder stroke or through a removable
20” ram extension/spacer.
6. Maximum work height of 20” lower platen working surface to surface to the floor
B. Platen Size and Requirements
1. Minimum size of 30” by 30” with a maximum of 36” by 36”
2. Platen Material Requirements: 410 stainless steel
3. Blanchard ground flat and parallel within .001/ft. of span
4. Single piece design
5. Gun-drilled for a minimum of (12) cartridge type heaters
6. Each platen shall have a minimum of one (1) “J” type thermocouple per platen
7. Each platen shall have a minimum of four (4) standard ¾ inch T-slots per plate
C. Electrical and Insulation Requirements
1. Design for a 480 V – 3 Phase 60hz system
2. Maximum operating temperature of 800 degrees F. and minimum operating temperature of 75 degrees F
3. Stainless steel heater covers
4. Platen insulation a minimum of 1” thick Ultra Temp. SD insulation between platens and bolsters
