FBO Questions 1300535072 50 Ton Press
1. Can the platens be made of solid carbon steel? Comment by Miller, Dale CIV 4.7, 476400D: We would need more information to consider this. A drawing would be helpful showing what is intended. Are the thermocouples in the stainless steel platens? Is the daylight measured between the stainless steel platens? What is the proposed thickness of the secondary stainless steel platens? Is the vendor referring to 410 stainless steel?
a. Can the vendor add stainless steel platens on top of the steel platens?
2. The SOW states that the platen size is to be between 30x30 and 36 x 36 inches, there will a difference in price between these two sizes. Do you want quotes on each size or just the least expensive one? Comment by Miller, Dale CIV 4.7, 476400D: Quote for just the least expensive one. We included the range in case the vendor has a standard stock size in this range.
3. How close can the delivery vehicle (a flatbed truck) get to the entrance of the facility? Comment by Miller, Dale CIV 4.7, 476400D: Approximately 8 feet
4. Are there any ramps, gravel, or obstacles in the way, or is there clear passage to the installation location? Comment by Miller, Dale CIV 4.7, 476400D: There is not a ramp. There is no gravel in the path. There are no other physical obstacles in getting to the installation building.
5. What is the width of the entrance doorway? Comment by Miller, Dale CIV 4.7, 476400D: 134.5”
6. Is the machine to be placed on the ground floor or another level? Comment by Miller, Dale CIV 4.7, 476400D: Ground floor
7. Are there any interior doorways to navigate through and what are their dimensions? Comment by Miller, Dale CIV 4.7, 476400D: No
8. Is the floor concrete and what is its thickness? Is it level? Comment by Miller, Dale CIV 4.7, 476400D: The floor is concrete. Regarding the level and thickness of the floor, I don’t have a precise answer at the moment, however, I can tell you that there is a 150 ton press adjacent to where the subject press will be placed and there have not been any issues regarding the level of the floor or its weight capacity. Does this answer your question sufficiently?
9. Is the electrical supply in place? Who is to provide hook-up? Comment by Miller, Dale CIV 4.7, 476400D: Yes. The government will make the utility connections.
